It will not delete !!!

Help,
I've got an unwanted file I cannot delete. Everytime I start up it pops up on the desk top.

I traced it to "Windows" and tried delete but a box pops up saying it cannot be deleted.

How do I get rid of it?

Write down the exact location of the file and then reboot windows in safe mode then locate the file and delete it.

Also you could try clicking Start/Run then type msconfig and hit return

Look in the startup section and see if you can recognize anything that associates with this file. If you do untick it and reboot then delete it.

Wouldn't usually hijack a thread, but it looks like your problems been fixed . For some reason i cant access the hotmail.com site. It says cannot find server, even though other sites are working fine. I thought maybe they were having a problem with their site, but it works on my brothers..?

Is it possible that you have put the hotmail site on a list that is blocked ?

In IE click on Tools/ Internet Options/Privacy/Edit
Check and see if you have blocked a site by accident

thx for replying Paul. I checked and it wasn't blocked, but either way it seems to be working again today?....Think my computers got its own personality and a mind of its own.
