Hi,

Does anybody use I dealing.com as a direct acess broker. I was trying to use Interactive Brokers but I have found them impossible to contact about transfering funds. I trade UK stocks have been using Etrade but need to put in stops as I can not always be at my screen. Are there any other brokers?

Greetings

Hello everyone,

Babe in the woods here, full of (mostly) hope and (partly) trepidation and totally devoid of knowledge. Maybe a couple of you can relate. It all started about 3-4 months ago. I received an email about day trading, and my curiousity gradually evolved into a near-obsessive quest. As you are all aware, there is an overwhelming amount of information available on the subject of day trading. As I mucked thru it on the web, one site would lead me to another, and then another, etc. Eventually, I reached a point of information overload and decided it was time to take action--any action--just so I could get the ball rolling, so to speak. The action I took was ordering Harvey Walsh's Day Trading Freedom course. That was yesterday.

Today, I came across this site, and after spending a few hours in your forum, seeing ol' Harvey get hammered, it appears that I may have sustained my first loss. (Or possibly not. I guess any knowledge can be useful.) What the hell, ya gotta start somewhere!

At any rate, this seems like a good place to learn a thing or two and I feel fortunate to have stumbled across it. I look forward to being part of your community.

Hi cook, if there is one bit of knowledge that has really helped me is these 2 books by Mark Douglas , they are trading in the Zone and The disciplined trader, I would recommend reading at least 'disciplined trader' before you start trading real money. Always Demo first to get the feel of the platform and what the market can do then progress to real money with a micro account . Trading Demos have one draw back , there is no fear factor when it's play money and fear (the feeling you get when the market goes the other way and your in the red) is what usually makes you lose money. I don't know about Walsh's course but as you said , you got to start somewhere, as we all do, the main thing is you started, Good Luck , and happy reading.

Hello all

New to the site and trading really been playing with demo accounts for about 6 months and I like to think I am about ready to go live. I am very impressed with this site and the information on here and it has helped me a great deal with making a up my mind regarding my trading options.

I will post more detail under first steps. Just thought I would say hi first

Good morning and greetings

I've been trading for the past 6 months on a very amateur basis (long trades only, planning to hold them for 3-5 years) on BARX.

Im now looking to start scraping the profits off some long hold shares and playing the day game with them.

Lets see how this goes...

Hey oniram,

Thanks for the response and advice. Yeah, I'm definitely in no rush and plan to be quite careful for some time.

Hi all,
I am a newbie to this site, so hellooo

I have been trading on and off for some number of years , starting with warrants and the odd stock or two, progressed to spread betting and have stayed with cmc still with em in a small way , had some great trading times in the past and rubbed shoulders with many city traders. I last traded the euroGBP early December and luckily I checked my account the other day as I was under the impression that I was all clear with no positions open , I traded the Dow and made a modest 50 points and when I checked my balance it was showing an open on the EuroGBP and a very nice profit of 235 points ...must have been a stop left into the market as I was short lol!!....always learning something...hopefully I will not be so stupid the next time as it could have worked out a bit different. ..Paul.

Sky News Looking For Trader To Interview

Hello,

I'm a Sky News reporter and I am putting together a piece on the end of the short selling ban on bank stocks (which is lifted midnight Thursday/Friday).

I am really interested in speaking to a London based trader who is pretty experienced, is a good talker and has an opinion about the short selling ban. Any thoughts on what might happen when it's lifted? Could a hedgefund with a view and considerable volume precipitate a short selling trend on bank stocks?

If you would be interested in speaking to me and potentially doing an on-camera interview please call on 07825 584 835 ASAP. My deadline is lunchtime on Wednesday 14th January.

Hi everyone.

I'm just finishing off my degree in Computer Science, specialising in Software Engineering, and now deciding that I'm rather more interested in a trading career than a programming one (or possibly a combination of the two). I'm definitely interested in learning more about the subject and will probably hang around here quite a bit, though I'll be quite busy with my dissertation for the next few months.

I hope to start trading at a personal level as soon as I have a regular income after graduation - as well as tinkering with poker bots - before eventually trying to pursue a career in the trading sector.

I'll be seeing you all around,

Spor
