Sticky Introduce Yourself

Hello all,

My names's Pete, I've just turned 30 and I'm currently a Captain in the British Army. I've been serving 8 years and now looking for a switch of career. I studied Computer Science at the University of Leeds and obtained a 2:1. My degree was practically 80% mathematics so I've hopefully got the pre-reqs when it comes to that side of life.

I am however in a rather unique position where I need to give a year's notice before I'm released. I am desperately trying to find out what I need to do in my year to get myself up to a competitive standard. My base knowledge is currently low - all I've had time to do so far is on-line learning. I have however become very interested in FOREX and ultimately want to push for that.

My CV is finished but perhaps needs a little 'trading specific' chat. Once complete I want to test the job market to see whether I get any bites. I am ideally after a company who will invest in me, offer trg, allow me to shadow a senior trader, then reap the benefits (hopefully!!) when I get up and running.

I am looking to those of you out there who are old and bold and know the market inside out to let me know how I can get started in this mine field. What do I need to learn first? What specific sites do I need read as part of my morning routine? Which companies should I approach with a CV? Are there Recruitment companies out there that 'buff up' CVs with trading in mind...

So many questions and struggling to find a place to start...

Many thanks in advance for your time,

Pete.

Hello everybody,

I registered here with one question to get to know what other people's exprerience are in Demo Trading Contests. Has any of you won any prizes like money or Ipads or laptops or sth? The reason I am asking is that now I found one direct Bank that offers this type of contest and am interested if it is worth taking part. Thx Hannah. I would love to see your feedback
