Does anyone know what the minimum opening balance is with IB just so i can do some paper trading for a while. Ive tried looking on the website but cant seem to find the correct details.

Hi,

At the last check it was $5,000 USD.

I think it is $25,000 USD if you are planning to Day Trade.

Just a clarification:

Day trading shares (more than 3?? trades per day) requires a larger account size.
Day trading futures has no such limitation (and I suspect the same applies to forex).

Pattern Day Trader: someone who effects 4 or more Day Trades within a 5 business day period. A trader who executes more than 4 day trades in this time is deemed to be exhibiting a ‘pattern’ of day trading and is thereafter subject to the PDT restrictions.
