India vs Vietnam

Ok i need some advise please, i need too plan my next move. Currently still in Thailand and must make a move before mid August. I am thinking either India or Vietnam for the next 3 to 6 months. So please any traders trading from there let me know. I am fearfull of both because of blackouts and slow internet ect being reported but i know fear alone is no reason not to do something.
So please let me know about living and tradeding from these countries. Will i be able to find a good setup or am i bound to be frustraded with the conditions.

The beter one of the two to trade from, i am just worried about constant power interuptions or unreliable internet. Living conditions and timewise is not a problem as i am there to take in some adventure over the weekends and find both very interesting. Would like to stay in a smallish town. It will only be temporary so do not care which one is the best in terms of quality of life.

Please excuse my sidetracking off your main question -
we've all heard that trading is the ultimate job you can carry on anywhere in the world, any time of the day - are you actually living the dream or do you need to be in SE Asia anyway, but for other reasons?

i trade for a living and have unfortuanatly no other income which can be stressfull when you have a lot of dept. Luckely for me i don't have any more of that so now it is easy to make enough cash to travel about. Staying to the cheaper places at the moment as to try to build my trading portfolio to a more respectical size.

By the way today someone came by the house i live in now too check it out cause he will be renting it for the next year and told me he is a mini es futures trader and been living around asia for the last 4 years. He bagged himself a thai wife though so think he will end up staying here much longer. Anyway i have seen more than one trader around south east asia.

take the train from Hua Lamphong station in Bkk down to Butterworth for PENANG in Malaysia.
Sleeper berth is about 25 quid one way.
Take plenty of beer, you'll meet lots of nice people on the 22 hour journey ......

base yourself in Penang for decent internet connection and a decent standard of living, and you can hit Langkawi island, KL city etc at weekends .......

Hi Ian, great to hear you're trading for a living and traveling!. It's very nice to see people like yourself post on forums like this as it shows and ads support to all of us working towards the goal of full-time trading, and its possible. I can't speak for others but If I was at wits end on actually being able to make it, reading that would reinforce that's possible and it's no time to quit!

I laughed at the problem you have, (it's s shocker!) I have not been to either so I can't advise on that....

Thats exacly what i did before comming to thailand. Before i was in the philippines then malaysia, now thailand. I was planning to do cambodia then vietnam but from one of my friends i heard that cambodia is a no no for the internet because of constand interuptions and so i got worried about vietnam seeing they have a lot of censorship powersupply problems and as far as i can tell from forums slow internet. I then checked out india but seems that they have simmilar problems. This is now cheaking out forums but i would rather take someones word for it that has actually tried to trade or are trading from one of these locations.
Just want to keep moving until year end cause then im of to Namibia for some months and South Africa to plan my next leg to South America.
Thanks for any advise anybody offers.
Maybe Borneo if someone can advise cause i like diving but hear some trouble with power aswell.

I'd choose Sri Lanka over India any day.
Colombo is a nice capital city and there are several other nice towns, resorts, unspoilt beaches.

And in my experience, having worked with 100s of people from the sub-continent area during a decade in Dubai, nicer people

But a place to consider, which wont automatically jump into your mind, is Taiwan.
some lovely mountainous areas, hot springs etc, good infrastructure, nice people, and not over crowded with farangs

Still nobody care to comment on the power and internet situation in these two countries or is it all just bs on the net and one can find a reliable sort of internet anywhere these days. I mean a lot of people say south africa is dodgy with internet and although it may be a tadd slow for watching movies etc i had virtually no down time in the whole of last year.
Thanks for the posts and suggestions so far. Maybe i must start a diceman sort of living where you guys through out the options and i pick em with the through of a dice. Keep em commin please1

Cannot comment on Vietnam .

India has very good broadband speeds, no issues with trading. Power blackouts can be a problem, depends mostly on where you are staying. Most good hotels do not have power loss . Most of the new developments also have a full power back up, though you will still need to connect your PC to some kind of power box( cant remember what its called), costs around £20 but it prevents your computer cutting out for the thirty odd seconds the power goes off.

Only problem you may have is getting a place to rent for such a short period, unless of course you will be in hotels.

Otherwise most major cities have all the facilities, shops, restaurants available here in the UK.
