At approximately 6:00pm this evening we experienced a serious resource usage problem on our hosting file server. The server had to be rebooted, but failed to boot up. On-site technicians were initially unable to diagnose the problem until about 11:00pm when the prognosis was - quote - "an interesting bios error". Subsequently the server booted up, completed its disk consistency checks and we were back online. For about 15 mins, between 11:00pm and 11:15pm - some members may have noticed a mirror of the site from some months ago was being broadcast - and yes, it's safe to say at that point, I was a little bit concerned!
We apologise for this outage and are pleased to announce that normal service has now resumed.
