Graduate with Economics and Finance degree with 2.2

:smart:I am an economics and finance gradaute with a 2.2 from Queen Mary University of london. British Citizen.:smart:

I need career advice(If there ever is one) on what to do next, and where to start with a 2.2.

I am thinking of studying for the sii or IMC qualification, but I am broke, no money, no income, and no savings. But I have no debts - thanks to learning economics and about compound interest.

I have average A levels, maths C , economics C and IT B.

I have no work experience in the financial sector, only retail.

I have been applying to companies and now trying recruitment sites such as monster etc. I have over 300 rejections - what a world.

I am someone who once is given the opportunity can meet targets and handle high levels of pressure. I use to cold call people and sell them bathrooms. And i did sell a **** load of bathrooms. Money keeps me going.

I think this country is very expensive and I want to work abroad in Dubai etc.

There is no way i am wasting my time studying for a masters degree and learn the same **** again, uni is full of **** and I would rather do A levels than uni.

IS there any good recruitment companies out there? PS there are dodgy one too.

I just need some where to start and gain work experience and do professional qualifications such as CFA, SII, IMC.

I do not want to be an accountant.

I am sure there are people who have 2.2 and earning a good wage. I am not worried or upset with the 2.2, because education and work are to different things.

Any careers advice would be most appreciated.:clap::smart:

Money keeps me going. Ok when you are talking business kindly drop the **** attitude. Don't refer to positive attributes in negative language. You short of vocabulary or something?

I think this country is very expensive and I want to work abroad in Dubai etc. Sounds like you have mixed emotions. If you are having trouble finding work here with your local knowledge, how to you think you will do in Dubai. Given you have no experience and no work at the moment, I'd drop that idea immediately as it's wasting your energy and focus. Nothing to say you can't in the future though. Keep it as a medium to long term objective by all means.

There is no way i am wasting my time studying for a masters degree and learn the same **** again, uni is full of **** and I would rather do A levels than uni. For a university educated git you lack descriptive language. I'd strongly recommend NLP or creative writing classes for you.

You are telling me you did a university course and learnt **** loads of stuff you never wish to learn again?

You are telling me you made a bad judgement call and went to university a **** place and learnt **** which you were only average at?

Why should anybody bother wasting time with a no hoper git like you with **** attitude who only applies him self to three years of **** at a **** place.

Apologies to you my friend but I'm just trying to display how your words and your presentation of your self will be interpreted by people such as my self who don't give a monkies about you or your aspirations.

Learn the power of your words and reign in your **** language is my advice to you.

IS there any good recruitment companies out there? PS there are dodgy one too. I prefer jobserve.co.uk my self and have done well since 96 as a freelance IT contractor. All my jobs how come from jobserve.com or personal reccomendations. The agents don't matter imo. They are all the same. Some will take you out to more free lunches than others. Otherwise you may get one drink at Christmas if you are lucky otherwise it's all pay and display.

I just need some where to start and gain work experience and do professional qualifications such as CFA, SII, IMC. If you want job experience, sell your self cheap and prove your self to an employer. With the work experience you can then improve your job status and pay by applying to better and paid positions etc.

I am sure there are people who have 2.2 and earning a good wage. I am not worried or upset with the 2.2, because education and work are to different things. No one has ever asked me about my economics degree and I work in IT. However, I feel you have missed the real point of your university degree to develop your character, meet people and learn the art of social interaction. Applying your self to problems and resolving them is second place in most social work environments. Unless you are a scientist or engineer ofcourse.

It sounds like you don't really know what you want to do, and if you've been rejected by 300 companies, I imagine you probably didn't put much effort into applications. You really need to figure out what you want to do, do some research on companies that do it, then tailor each individual application to a specific company.

If you just send out generalized, vague CVs and cover letters, no-one will hire you because you lack focus, and clearly don't want the job enough - even if you have a First from a top uni.

I really think you need an internship. It will give you a good idea of what companies actually look for. Frankly, you sound a bit lost at the moment (personal opinion). It will also improve your chances of getting a decent job. You don't have anything working in your favour at the moment (2.2 from Queen's mary, no experience). So my advice to you is apply for internships.

Even internships i cant even get, and i am also willing to work for free and long as my travel expenses are paid. I don't know what is going on in this world. Anyway, I think I have missed internship deadlines. All I want is an income in the financial sector, back,middle,front, broker, stockbroker, investment analyst, etc.
Thinking about it my first job was the best, no interview,no test, no education, only pure survival of the best job - sales.
I need one company to throw me out there and show them that i am a pure survivor. theres too much silly things like tests, two interviews, education.
And I also think there is racism.
Can someone tell me how to get an internship now and not wait for the next summers internship hire.
I really need a job and i do not wish to sign up for job seekers benfit.
Keep the advice coming and any good job sites.

stop thinking you're a victim and actually decide what you want to do. there are lots of conadidates out there with better qualifications and i'm assuming a better attitude than you. in one breath you say you're a pure salesman and then you sya you want to be back office or investment analyst. each position has a specific skill set that a firm would be looking for. what has being a back office employee got to do with investment analysis? nothing whatsoever

wind your neck in and put some research into what you want to do and work your b0llox off until you get there.

I must admit it sounds like you have an idea of what you think you should be doing. BUT you can have those ideas sitting around on some rather nice beaches around the world, hustling beer money for a year or 2, whilst you get to the point of knowing what you have to do.

get some exams under your belt. work on a weekend/evening in a bar/shop to get the money for the exams. show some proactivity. and sending your cv with a generic covering letter to does not count as proactivity.

at the moment there are probably not as many jobs as previously but there are still plenty out there. try your university careers office perhaps....

Too be honest even getting a supermarket job is hard. I apply and then find out i have been rejected.
I am thinking of doing the IMC unit 1 first and see how that goes.

Reading your posts I am not surprised no one offers you anything.
If your C.V reads anything like your posts here, your chances are very limited Prosective employers pay close to diction, grammar and spelling on C.V'S.Your spelling is not bad but your command over putting together a sentence is appalling

mate-i'm not buying that. i could go out today and get a job waiting tables/working in a bar/check out at tesco/on a building site.

get a few hundred quid together, get some exams done, i'd say smarten up your attitude (the world doesn't owe you a job) and start targetting specific positions. if you have to spend two hours of an evening completely re-writing a covering letter for a position in the back office somewhere then so be it. that's life buddy.

Shame your posts don't! Applying for 300 jobs is just going to rub the agencies and companies up the wrong way. It'll be - oh no here another application from so-and-so. You are clearly applying for jobs that you are not qualified for. Perhaps you'd better lower your sights a little and plan to work hard, get promoted - or get some experience and then work up the the job you want.

Why don't you post some of your CV up for us to see. Remove any personal information, place names etc. But let us see what you've written. I occasionally recruit for investment banks and have seen a lot of CVs - good and bad in my time.

Well I am dyslexic and can put together a better post. You with your degree can't string together 2 coherent sentences.
