the cookies, listed below, were downloaded onto my pc from a page of t2w using a fresh downloaded browser with all cookies cleared.

can someone in admin please identify the cookies listed.

some are normal for t2w. can they please tell us which ones do not belong to trade2win. most do not look normal t2w served cookies to me.

and yes viewing one page collected that lot

a lot of threads give out a few cookies as expected, some threads give more than others, a few threads give the full list.

I have now concluded they must all belong to t2w, as the hompage itself serves all of the cookies on the list. so they must be new and i'd not seen this before

Outside of the advertising banners powered by Google Doubleclick which uses cookies, there are lots of technologies we use on T2W that use their own cookies. If you look at the source html of any page, we use a lot of different technologies on the site, from vbulletin, vbseo and countless vb modification for the forums to quantcast, mixpanel and google analytics for the metrics, and custom made sections of the site that use their own cookies for the reviews, articles, book. Basically there's a lot going on! Without investigating each cookie individually I can't tell you exactly what's used for what, but obviously this would require setting aside dedicated time to do it.

I got adbloc but I must be doing something wrong because some ad pages appear still - albeit blank, I thought the whole ad page would disappear if I used adbloc?
Really annoyed that ad pages (some now blank) still appear on T2W and other sites. I wonder if Apple Macs suffer from a plague of pop up advertising?

are you not used to it now neil? it how the net is, ads everywhere. that's how we get sites we enjoy like this for free :)

it's the fraudsters I dislike. those underhand individuals that use places like t2w to defraud. which is basically what this thread is for, an info gathering effort only really (y)

thanks for the reply sharky (y)

there's no need to spend time and effort on explaining each cookie. the fact they are t2w generated cookies is good. my main interest were any cookies that were not t2w generated. since there appears to be no foreign cookies all is well :D

LM - no worries! Yeah nothing there is jumping out at me as suspect. The only time you're going to have some weird cookie when you come to the site, is if you've got some malware installed on your browser (probably some extension) and then it opens up browser pages automatically without you requesting them.

We don't have any pop-up ads running on the site. The closest thing we have is an overlay if you're not recognised as a member, it shows the first time you visit the site each day. If you're seeing any sort of pop-up browser then you've probably got some malware infestation see above (I've even seen it on macs as I use a mac myself).

hmm...what's that ad for FXCM then, over on the right? Not a pop-up exactly, but seems like some new sort of technology, since I last used to be here regularly.

Quite annoying when someone posts a large chart, or similar.

it's not an easy thing to gain proof of or to see. once it's happened it's done and rarely happens again to take screen shots from. once I found out the latest cookies normal for t2w i've been on the case of that clown rourkem.

why I've got to write this I have no idea, it's been gone over in the past and nobody seems to bother. so here we go again!!

rourkem is including 3rd party smilies from imagicon.info in his posts and sig. which has dropped 3rd party cookies from this post to on my pc!.

imagicon.info smilie use has long been proven dodgy - google it! - and as it was proven a long while back here at t2w that allowing 3rd party smilie use risks the dropping of unwanted affiliate ad cookies onto t2w members pc's, this directly affects members and uses them to potentially give crooks affiliate ad revenue. added to this, the cookies from these smilies have in the past potentially acted like a cuckoo on the t2w site ad cookies, stealing t2w ad revenue. i believe currently rourkems posts here are delivering a tracking cookie onto members from media6degrees. but there could be others, on other sites rourkem is dropping affiliate cookies for betfair.com.

even after previous warnings, why has no action ever been taken on these 3rd party smilies, their use is obvious and instructions have been posted on spotting them.

so why has rourkem been allowed the freedom to post his rubbish for months!!

ok so he's been allowed to freely post and yet again nothing done yet regarding the clown rourkem :(

just because it cannot be easily seen what he is up to doesn't mean nothing is happening. the pc I'm posting on now is up to date and relatively secure (I'm hoping) so I can't see a that much from this view really and just because you can't see it is not a reason to ignore this. an older unsecure pc has a better view of the scammy git.

one last go, see if it sinks in finally :whistling

rourkem is posting hidden affiliate spam with every post, in every sig and sometimes in post. it is hidden, the current hidden affiliate spam links to zulutrade.

just bin the clown and all his posts, or please explain why you will not.

LM,

Unless this was reported as is normal then it can easily escape the Mods as you know because we don't monitor all threads or posts. That said this has now been cleaned up.

yet another one

another cookie dropping clown is on the loose across the boards!!

p!ss poor attempt at pushing the blame onto other posters by editing the cookie drop in via the quote in his posts :sneaky:

for over a month this clown has been allowed to shove xm.com affiliate cookies down our throats with 22 posts!!!

Ban and cleaned although it is easier and quicker to just report the post as the same action will happen and we dont have to find it because it is linked in the report.

thanks t333, in normal circumstances I'd agree. however, as in the past post reports had no effect. action was taken on post reports, indeed if I recall correctly members posts were removed from threads instead of the cookie dropping clowns. public outing of these crooks safest way to go imo.

I am unsure what you mean as a report of this nature would be actioned. I seem to remeber that it wasn't reported using the red flag and that was why it didn't get acted on straight away. Mods are more likely to see reported posts than to spot a new post on a thread like this and it is by chance that I happened to see it. Eventually a thread like this will be seen by Sharky but it could be a while.
