I don't know if this is still the case, but there used to be tough restrictions of dealing on the chinese markets - either a resident, or chinese parents... a bit like playing rugby for your country.

There are ETF's on US exchanges that track the market though, I reckon these are your best bet.

It is getting easier to trade chinese stocks, Still need to use a mainland broker though to own the A shares.
still the easiest is to trade the H shares of the chinese companies on the HK market

China stocks are also listed in Singapore. Those listed in Singapore has far lower valuation compared to those traded in China and HK. I often post my stock ideas on my websites.

Effective 12 Feb 2009, there are 362 stocks listed at Hong kong Stock Exchange that eligible to be shorted, which most of them are blue chip stocks.

I know a London-based CFD provider offerring HK Stocks CFD, such as HSBC, ICBC, BOC, China Mobile and the dealing desk in London,but they don't offer to retails investors directly. Btw, they are MM model, not ECN like Saxo.
