They may well relapse back into isolation because:-
1. They are hopeless at foreign policy and think they can just bash foreigners into submission.
2. They waste so much men and materials, with no tangible results.
3. Theirs allies are fed up with their useless leadership.

When you type at over 50 words a minute and at my age - you expect some mistakes - thanks again for correcting the n to d - not even close on the key board - my mistake

Lets go back to my initial first comment - the crux of the discussion - ie

Serious question - for a balanced economy and environment - the fact that Capitalism and Socialism both have the faults and weaknesses - don't you think ideally 65-70% capitalism assisted with 30 -35% socialism - so all can enjoy the best of both worlds ??


Now from what I have gathered - you think a government should not interfere or control at all - and that Capitalism needs total freedom to flourish ?

Please correct me if I have got this wrong .

I have argued - as a Capitalist - we need controlled Capitalism - to keep the Goldman Sachs and the Rupert Murdoch's under control

I don't think you agree - you just think everybody is a left wing marxist?

Please tell me why the world would be better with more companies like Goldmans and more businessmen like Murdoch - rather that people who are innovative and compassionate and potential world business award winners - rather than plain crooks ?

Should murders be able to be carry on in our society - because that is what freedom is?

Are you saying for true freedom - we have no rules at all ?

I have no problem if people don't want the world to be a better place - that can be their freedom of choice

How about you properly learn your opponents position BEFORE trying to argue against it? That applies to many others in this thread who clearly haven't got the foggiest idea what they are 'talking' about.🙄
 
I know where F is coming from. The law is an ass and there are many who know how ro take advantage of it. Capitalism relies on the rule of law in many ways. We hear it all the time-

"I am doing nothing illegal"

Capitalism, in the wrong hands, will buy the most expert lawyers to prove its point in the courts. Small people do not stand much chance and we all know it.

The Greek situation is a case in point. The man in the street is getting screwed. I, as a foreigner, am indignant that Greece should not pay its debts, but capitalism is behind all this- make no mistake-- and I, and most people, will continue to support the capitalist system, regardless.

God help us if we cross it, though. It is capable of tossing us out on the streets, penniless and do it within the law.

God bless democracy! But capitalism has its rights, too, and the money to prove it.

Hi new_trader

I dont consider it bizarre at all - but there again I would be judged by many ( including Dr Dorothy Rowe the psychologist and well know author as a so called "dangerous person" )

ie - "the most dangerous people in the world are those that know what is best for others "

I believe in the PCP theory of personal construct psychology and the Repertory grid and also "every man in his own particular way is a scientist" with the extremes being happy and sad.

Controlled Capitalism make me happy . Theoretical Capitalism makes my sad.

Socialism can make be both happy and sad

Anarchy would make me very sad.

Governments maybe need to be more like "referees" in my world - respected but always fair to the countries people & economy and implementing policies that are favoured by the majority in a democracy with one man one vote etc etc

Please explain to me your own view in regards to Capitalism - Freedom - Anarchy -Socialism etc - it should be interesting I reckon

You either don’t understand Capitalism or you don’t understand the problem with Greece. If you really understood either then there would be no way you could blame Capitalism. Do you even understand the difference between public and private debt?

If you said 'Greece' is the problem with democracy, I would agree.

If you said 'Greece' is what happens when too many people put their trust in Government, I would agree.

If you said 'Greece' is what happens when Government promises to provide its citizens more than it can afford in order to win votes, I would agree.

‘Greece’ is why the Founding fathers of the USA didn’t want a democracy and formed a Constitutional Republic. They knew the problems and dangers of a democracy and wanted to prevent the USA from turning into a ‘Greece’.

As Benjamin Franklin said:

“When the people find they can vote themselves money, that will herald the end of the republic."

This is what we are seeing in Greece, and, although many people want to hold the current USA up as a beacon of Capitalism it is a far cry from what the Founding Fathers had intended. The Government in the USA is just keeps getting bigger and bigger and taking over more and more areas of the economy in direct contradiction to The Constitution. If you don't like what you seeing in the USA right now, don't blame Capitalism for it.
