I've been trying to figure out why I rarely feel properly recovered after sleeping, even though I generally get enough hours in bed.
My biggest issue isn't falling asleep — it's that I seem to stay in a very light state of sleep throughout the night. Some mornings I remember waking up several times, while other mornings I simply wake up with the feeling that my body never fully "powered down." It's difficult to describe, but it almost feels as though my system stays on standby instead of entering a deep recovery mode.
Because of this, my energy levels throughout the day have become quite unpredictable. There are days when I feel reasonably functional in the morning but completely exhausted by early afternoon. Concentration becomes harder, motivation drops, and I often end up depending on caffeine just to get through the day. I've already had the usual medical investigations done and fortunately nothing concerning was found. While that's obviously good news, it also means I'm left wondering whether there are factors outside the standard medical picture that might influence recovery and sleep quality.
Lately I've become interested in how our surroundings may interact with the nervous system and overall wellbeing. I've seen discussions about hydration, environmental stressors, electromagnetic exposure, and various technologies designed to create a more supportive living space.
During my search I came across Somavedic and a few similar concepts that focus on improving the body's environment rather than addressing a specific symptom directly. I know opinions on these kinds of products vary widely, and I'm approaching the topic with curiosity rather than conviction.
Have any of you experimented with environmental wellness devices, changes to your sleeping space, or other less conventional methods? If so, did you notice any difference in sleep depth, nighttime awakenings, morning recovery, or overall energy levels?
