blueindex

Ought to qualify the above post - this post on a thread about CFD advisory brokers made interesting reading:

http://www.trade2win.com/boards/con.../22185-cfd-advisory-brokers-2.html#post403337

And looking at the FSA register a significant number of Blue Index staff have only been active there a for few months:

FSA Register

Which might perhaps be taken by some people to indicate a high turnover of staff..... perhaps the blue index marketing guy could comment?

It should be noted that this information is not advice, but simply an opinion expressed by a rather skeptical member.

Isn't blue index some sort of CFD spank shop?

Seem to be a few posts where people have had their accounts trashed by these places - makes you wonder why the admin/mods allow these vendors to post/troll for customers.

Hi DT, there are no links or hooks and so a member who is a declared vendor or not can post analysis of this nature if they wish, that's my personal view of the guidelines. Where there may be a transgression in the use of a known brand as a username.

I will ask the questions, in the meantime It's allowed as far as I'm concerned, barjon is far more experienced than I in these matters, but he isn't on presently.

Will move these discussion out of the thread and into feedback shortly

fair enough - I wasn't saying it necessarily breaks any rules but I don't think it adds any value to the forum to have organisations like that creating multiple threads like these purely for marketing purposes

Can you mods tell them to post on one thread only.

This will help us to fade their trade ideas or otherwise monitor them for our amusement.

Yes we can indeed fib, We were discussing earlier and going to look at how blueindex had posted and tidy things up if necessary, but I am busy on other matters at the mo and it's also teatime, moderation stops for tea

hi dt,

It's a hugely difficult line to draw, particularly since some vendors post some good stuff which is both interesting and worthwhile to members. This thread's an example http://www.trade2win.com/boards/for...5-phil-newton-s-range-break-out-strategy.html
I think there'd be a bit of an outcry if we pulled that thread on the basis that it was a hook to Phil's site. 'Course if he'd just posted something like "visit my site and see how you can make money trading overnight range break-outs" then it would have gone.

By the same token, the recent AVIVA post by blueindex is likely to be of interest to those trading equities and acceptable on that basis. As Lightning says, it contains no direct advertising, links or hooks, but members are aware (nowadays) that there is commercial interest in the background via the vendor tag.

Our general line is that we will not allow any direct advertising in posts (that bit is easy enough); nor posts that are uninformative - such as "buy at 221", or a list of recent trades - and clearly designed as a hook (sometimes less easy); nor posts where it becomes obvious that their primary purpose is as marketing hooks (often not easy at all). We will sometimes tolerate vendors who are open and informative about their methods even though there may be an underlying marketing purpose.

The moderators' guiding question at all times is "Will members find this post interesting and/or informative and/or useful and/or worthwhile".

Hope that explains things.

I don't know. You tell me!

http://www.trade2win.com/boards/general-trading-chat/37004-morning-rundown.html#post481090

I find nothing wrong with the post I recommended, frankly, and I'm quick to report those that I don't like. I know that I'm a sucker for being taken in by posters (not to the extent that I sign up for anything) , but that post seemed OK to me and was more useful than some of the stuff that I read these days. A pity that it is not more frequent.

There seems to be a lot of handholding necessary nowadays. Surely, someone who is capable of pressing buttons to trade is, also, capable of treating with suspicion ANYONE who wants the reader to sign up for an account.

I, also, liked mp6140, I'm afraid. :( Woe is me !. Whatever he did outside of this forum is none of my concern but I did warn him that he had a big mouth and to keep his observations to trading. Arguing the toss was his undoing, otherwise he would have been alright. He, certainly, did not try to sell me anything, or anyone else, as far as I know.

All I ask is that is that accusations be wellfounded, not questions like this. "Isn't he etc ?" We get enough of that in the media.

It wasn't the content of the post I was highlighting, more the intentions behind it. The user 'Blueindex' has made 13 posts, all of them new threads along a similar line. IMO it looks like nothing more than marketing for a white lable CFD advisory service that, so far, doesn't seem to have too many positive reviews (just click on the thread titles in 'Similar threads' at the bottom of this page for a start). Perhaps getting them to place all the future 'recommendations' in the same thread might be better.

I think it's quite refreshing to have the companies post up here really, ( mainly going by the Capitalspread thread on the spread betting forum). I think it was quite helpful to see the Capitalspread's point of view on the matter , and in some cases you can side the poster and in some cases the spread better.

With regards to this company in particular , i read a few of the posts, make a good read but that's it really. I guess if you asks the companies to stop posting, it's almost the same as asking the companies that sponsor to site to stop advertising , eg Galvan has a few bad posts about them and they have sponsored links here. Asking them to stop advertising i guess would be detrimental to the running of this site which has no memebership costs etc.

I just think sometimes you got to take the reviews with a pinch of salt. Some of the posters literally have a few posts and then sign up to bad mouth a company. I guess bad news must travel a lot quicker than good.

that's my 2 cents worth anyway :D

Yes, you have to take the reviews with a pinch of salt. Everything that is printed is done from, either, motives of genuine belief in what will happen or they can be very mercenary. A good writeup by the columnist of a national daily can do wonders for a share's price and it is up to the reader to make of it what he will.

The capital spreads thread did add a bit more value though - it was one thread and the guy from that company actually interacts with customers and answers queries - may be a marketing exercise but is also providing customer service too - I don't spread bet but I'd guess for people who do (and are clients of theirs) it is a pretty useful thread. Bit of a contrast between that and simply whacking up 13 separate threads with the same sort of content you'd expect to find in a mail shot/phone call from any number of brokerage houses. Not quite the same as an advertising banner - they generally don't get in the way of other threads and are funding this forum in the first place.

Still its all in one thread now and I guess if they've got the balls to post trade recommendations publicly then fair play to them... will be interesting to see how it works out.

I realise this thread is a bit old - as are these articles - but if anyone is interested in what happened to these people who's posts I took objection to a few years ago then:

FSA charges five in Blue Index case - Business News - Business - The Independent

Blue Index case sees charges filed in US - Business News - Business - The Independent

I've not visited this site for a while and it seems there are still dubious posters on this forum unfortunately, which reminded me about this thread.
