Benefit Bombers

Is this country really such a "soft touch", and what do T2W members think should be done to prevent this from happening in the future?

Is that pc enough for you? Of course it was all done in the best PAH-SIBBLE taste!

would the crimes be less horrific if they were professionals such as accountants and office clerks ?

given that they were of such a mind to inflict such random destruction on the streets of London, do you think they gave any concern about cheating the benefits system ?

I think the problem here is associating ANYBODY on benefits as shifty, lazy, or scroungers.
and, unfortunately, benefits AND immigrants as a combination does bring out the more right-wing views.

if we, as a nation, stopped benefits for all non-UK nationals would NOT stop the bombers.
the Sept 11th bombers were training as pilots, so had independent income.
terrorists get their money through crime, drug-money, so THEY wouldnt be short of funding.

subversives and the like could equally have been classed as "students".
do we stop funding of foreign students ?

the problem is taking one aspect and generalising it across the whole society.

personally, I think the benefits system should be made tougher.

i agree with the gist of your comments trendie

it is true that terrorists will always find funding, but I think the fact that these attacks were funded, albeit indirectly, by our benefit system is ludicrous

especially when one takes into account that because of the way the benefit system is structured, it can be hard for British citizens to claim benefits. People who have worked hard, paid taxes etc, often all of their lives. My father was made redundant last year, having worked all his life, from a relatively low paying job. He was entitled to very little.

Asylum seekers, immigrants etc. are often entitled to more than he was......

If the architect of the welfare state Beveridge could see.....
(I am not wielding a right wing axe here)......

It is ironic that Gordon Brown goes on about choking off terrorist funding when the tax payer recently paid 10k for a people carrier for a Preacher of Death in London.


The UK is a very soft touch and because it so PC we have not thrown out the Jihadi preachers and stripped the citizenship from any person preaching Jihad. This was done so as not to upset the Muslim community. I think is a cowardly act to run away from the tough decisions and since 9/11 our government has been very slack on preparing our nation for attack. Amazing that one popped on the train to France!!!

The poor guy who got shot was another indicator of our slackness - his visa was a forgery and he had lived on the black in the UK for over two years.

The PC brigade has stopped us assimilating the Pakistani Muslim community into our way of life - we have Balkanised them. We allow them to bring brides and grooms from backward villages into modern Britain. The women are kept like prisoners by the male culture. We print our forms in many languages so as to not cause upset - rather than make them learn English, pronto.

All in all, the number one problem is the accepted Culture of the Suicide Bomber - until the Muslim world says it is morally wrong, it will carry on and Europe is heading towards an Intifada.

In fact the Intifada has begun!

Yes, they shouldn't glorify and honour single mothers by paying them vast salaries for producing sprogs en masse by any number of different fathers.

mmm, whilst I get hot under the collar at a lot of the pc absurdities I happen to think it's good being part of a tolerant country that allows people to travel their own path and facilitates them in doing so - as long as they obey the law of the land, of course. Similarly, it's good being part of a compassionate country that provides benefit for the less fortunate - as long as it's within the law, of course. I have as much moral disdain for those who "legally" avoid their taxes as I do for those who "legally" gain falsely from benefits.

A soft touch - maybe, but it's a price worth paying.
