Asian Coronavirus Outbreak

What a virtue signalling prick, millions of us have either lost total income or are about to lose it all, and all celebrities can think of is how to virtue signal the hardest by taking a week off work.

We've just had a online music gig run by globalists and Elba is supporting the UN, need I say more!

There are no words !

He's an actor. What do actors know?

I am amused to see a humble Richard Branson appealing to Boris to spend billions on saving his businesses with tax payer's money. He won't be selling his private island, airline fleet etc. to pay his debts. Probably the political version of the 3 card trick will be employed by his friendly politicians. The tax payers have to make do with a slice of his bankrupt businesses worth nothing.
Interesting to see if Labour can get off their fat arses to question such robbery.

Yeah but his business is suffering because of Government policies all over the world.

Have some heart.

With all these apps for Covid-19. I would have thought one that detected another smartphone in close proximity, and gave off a loud alert if it got within 2m.

And another thing.....
All these celebs doing concerts to "raise money". Off whom?
Why dont they just write their own cheques, since everyone is too busy queuing.
Actually, I never understood the idea of celebs doing "good works", as it seemed easier for them to just pony up the cash themselves.

Hope you're all enjoying the sun, and keeping fit.

I don't mind them doing their jobs and encouraging the public to put up some money for charity at the same time. But they really should stick to their professions and let some air out of their egos. They know sweet FA about running a government.

Everybody clapping the NHS is virtue signalling .

Music business has been captured along with politics, film industry, science, art, education, the police and medicine..especially medicine right now.

....but do they know even less about running a government than the government? I reckon opinion will be divided around 52%/48% , so that means the Ayes have it....or maybe it's the Noes; democracy's so confusing ....as well as being crap.

OMG

Mrs T knew absolute FA and she was a woman in a mans world but people absolutely loved her. Didn't she do well? Not imo but that just goes to show what opinions count for!

What about President Ragan?

What qualifications does one need?

Then we have Trump in a class of his own?

Current crop of tories essentially are Etonites with rich daddies.

imho the biggest qualification one needs is the ability to BS big time and be convincing about it. That means believing you are the real deal, Gods only son gifted to the masses to save them from their sins as long as they believe in you, you will take them to the promised land - or at least try to.

Hmm now lets see.

Is Bransons empire registered and paying tax in the UK?
If not and he's registered offshore, then perhaps he should go tap up some of his offshore buddies for a loan instead of grovelling to the UK taxpayer to sustain his jet setting, publicity seeking, celebrity courting, lifestyle, failing, business.

There's some criticism of Richard Branson's business tactics.

If I was a Virgin employee (or investor), I'd expect the man at the top to use every legal recourse available to preserve the company's financial well-being. I would also be insistent that if the company has a legal right to government financial assistance, they should apply for it and get it.

To be honest, as a UK taxpayer, it would not help me to see any company go out of business and all its personnel stop paying tax and start receiving benefits, regardless of the lifestyle of the founder.

Now that really is Ott, Att!.....and a deliberate misrepresentation of the facts.
Many of them went to Harrow and Winchester (which latter's alumni could at least be expected to have decent manners) and a fair few went to some minor Public Schools, not worth mentioning.

Barbs aside* The Sutton Trust's briefing paper on the social background of MPs, would appear not to support you.

"Conservative MPs elected at the 2019 General Election were the most likely to have attended a fee-paying school: 41% compared to 30% Liberal Democrat, 14% Labour and 7% SNP..... "

The above Stats suggest that the Conservative party has either been infiltrated by MP's educated at Grammar Schools ( I believe some still exist) or, even worse, by those benefiting** from a Comprehensive education. Either way, it's amazing that Brexit got done with that breakdown.....oh, sorry, it hasn't been, yet...but I'm sure it will be, one day.

They say that going to a " public " school is much the same etc. as going to prison. My personal ( not been to prison ) experience doesn't allow me to comment but I expect the subjects are much the same as taught in comprehensives too.
However apparently there is a big difference in the attitude of the students of say South Korea and the UK. Their students really put in the work and get ahead while so many here deride education. There was a flourishing poker school in the back of the maths class where I went.
The British education system doesn't teach much that is any use in later life. History. geography etc. are interesting but not much use. Maths being the exception. There should be a big shake up and teach business etc. There should not be any envy for those that did go to public school. No mother coddling at home there.

Bailouts cause distortions in the market and make society poorer. When an airline goes bankrupt the planes don't disappear, the airline will be bought and made more efficient by the new owners. If there is demand for their service, people will keep their jobs, if there is no demand, all we will end up with is zombie companies supported by the taxpayer competing with more efficient companies. We are in this situation now because of the Central Banks reluctance to allow companies to fail after the 2008 financial crisis, and is exactly what the Austrian Economists warned about, to the few who bothered to listen.

Times have changed but modern Public Schools seem to be more about coddling the undeserving than actually getting them to learn much.

I hope and expect those at the highest levels of government (both administration and politics) to be the best educated non-specialists in the country. This will inevitably mean many from public schools and the Oxbridge universities. Good.
