I used to think that there were some sharp practice operators in the world of finance - but they now almost seem a respectable bunch [who were only trying to make a dishonest living!] compared to our cops, journalists & politicians. Some typical comments from a blog I was reading: http://www.spectator.co.uk/coffeehouse/7106063/quizzical-eyes-turn-on-yates.thtml

"What has happened to our country? Corruption in its institutions (only the judiciary and the armed forces seem to be immune), the leeching of sovereignty to foreign chancelleries, unrestricted immigration, a bloated underclass, confiscatory taxes, ubiquitous jobsworths, venal elected and non-elected officials, a public service broadcaster that has abandoned impartiality and seeks to destroy its competitors, newspaper editors who appear to consort with criminals..........".

==========================

"The Government will search the serried ranks of the current crop of Chief Constables in vain if they want to find an effective, honest and politically impartial new Met Commissioner. For a couple of generations top cops - never the brightest sparks in the firmament, let's be honest - have been churned out of Marxist sociology courses and are more intent on social engineering than real Policing.

Ian Blair, Paul Stevenson, Andy Hayman, and that bloke in Manchester who shagged anything that moved and went for a walk on a Welsh mountain are the dire result. Worse than useless to a man. The Govt. should go back to the days when Met men came from the upper ranks of the Army. I believe that Gen. Sir Richard Dannatt, currently i/c the Tower of London, is available. He could start by locking his bosses in his present place of employment."

Some good points in that post.

This country frankly deserves to go down the p1sser, not that it matters anyway.

It's simply inevitable unless we see major changes. Which we won't.
