The Next US President

The jobs the base are expecting, however, are not the jobs they're going to get. They've been played; they just haven't figured it out yet.

It's more important to preserve the jobs we have before we start creating new ones.

The guy that may potentially lose his job doesn't care what kind of opportunity that may exist 6 months from now. He just wants to keep what he has to provide for his family.

There's nothing politicians can do about it, though they are perpetually promising otherwise, knowing that the public doesn't understand how it all works and is characteristically gullible.

There is nothing Country A can do to stop a company from moving to Country B as long as Country B is open to having them. Companies will do business where they can make the greatest profits. That's capitalism.

You have exposed another major flaw in capitalism. It cares for nobody and nothing except making money for the few. Patriotism, jobs, people's feelings etc. are all trodden under foot by the capitalist monster. When the activists realize just what a beast capitalism is they will kill it.
Politicians need a bit of courage to stand up to the illegal logging in the world's forests etc.

This could be such a pleasant world to live in if just a bit of care was shown. Capitalism's opponents are torn between money and good housekeeping, but choose the latter.

Pure capitalism, yes, which is why regulation is necessary. Without it, the air would be unbreathable, the water undrinkable, the food contaminated and so on, as is the case in other countries.

The best system is that which meets the needs of those who live within it. That's what the social contract is all about. But we cram bunches of people with mutually incompatible needs and wants into the same system and are living with the result.

Amen. A bird in the hand is worth two in the bush. DB is a prime example of "if you give a mouse a cookie".

Britain has already done what Trump has proposed to some extent and it has worked fine. The UK charges tariffs on imports of non-British goods and foreign owned companies operating in the UK, like BMW, Mercedes,..., unless that companies makes the goods in the UK. Rolls Royce is a wholly-owned subsidiary of BMW, but most Rolls Royce are still made in the UK by British workers.

England has become, and is still becoming more pro-business.

Struggling with sagging sales over another crucial holiday shopping season, Macy’s announced on Wednesday that it was eliminating more than 10,000 jobs as part of a continuing plan to cut costs and close 100 stores.

Thank God Trump salvaged those 700 Ford jobs . . .

Another Trump Trade:

President-elect Donald Trump directed his ire at another carmaker Thursday, threatening Toyota Motor Corp. with a border tax for planning to build a factory in Mexico.

Toyota’s American depositary receipts fell 0.7 percent and traded down 0.5 percent to $120.61 as of 1:49 p.m. in New York.

Make that a "buy" . . .

Trump is a committed nationalist if you believe what he has said. For instance keeping jobs in America. anti Mexican immigrants, anti China sentiments etc.
The rest of the world will be at odds with the USA over major issues like foreign policy and trade.
It was just what the voters wanted to hear in the US but for the rest it will be expensive initially. In the longer term nationalism is the ruin of a country. The reason being there are many more of the rest in numbers GDP etc. Just having big and well armed forces to keep on top is also bankrupting policy.
Nationalism and capitalism are both bad news. Much better to trade and play with others on a fair and friendly basis where both parties benefit.

If one believes what he says. But Trump is not a committed nationalist. He makes that claim only because it is what he believes the base wants to hear, but this has been the Republican tactic for 40 years.

If Trump is such a committed nationalist, why does he outsource so much of his product line?

You are not suggesting that he is a serial lier are you ?
Wasn't he always accusing Hillary of lying ?
I wonder if he will try to get rid of the Senate and be a dictator or am I fantasizing ?

Extra, extra, read all about it! "Politician calls another politician a liar". Shocker, not! A lying politician is as boring as watching moss grow. What rock have you been living under?

I'm beginning to like Trump. He managed to put slam dunk FBI in their place.

US and GCHQ hack as a matter ofcourse. Crying wolf and attracting attention like a baby. My my.

When he says it is in the interest of US to be on good friendly relations with Russia, he has my support. (y)

The World needs peace and balance.

On another story, listening to our fabulous BBC Radio 4, they were talking about green energies and debating China v USA. Apparently, China has come heaps and bounds and has some very tough targets to reach by 2050, when they hope to be carbon neutral.

In contrast US talking about dirtying the world with their greed and desperation for global domination.

Big factor here is that there is a massive PR factor here where citizens of the World will start substituting US goods with Chinese.

Effectively, US is willingly giving up global leader role to China.

So big arguments and BIG stakes at play here. For the red knecks out there, that's not the kind you eat but the kind they'll get further stuffed with.

Wake up and open your eyes and ears America as you're not playing this green eco warrior game right and will end up losing.

Just saying like, pulse form a citizen of the World, yours trully. :)

If you want peace, totalitarianism is definitely the way to go.

You are mis-reading the story Db.

Green eco future technologies will be revolutionary, a little like the micro-chip revolution.

US (and Trump) need to embrace and take it further higher. Sadly I feel US is regressing.

China is going full throttle turning green. Eco-credentials in the future will become like space age revolution where leading countries will benefit in terms of global image and branding.

Germany has similar vision of the future.

fwiw imho, if nations are talking about being great, going eco-green is the way forward.

:love::love::love:

China, however, is totalitarian. The US is a republic. The former is more likely to go "full throttle".
