The point is not whether this stuff will ever come to fruition but rather that it is research into new weapons for use in wars of occupation - to fight insurgencies. There is nothing "defensive" about these sorts of weapons other than intent to "defend" the US empire and it's presence in client states.

actually the more i think about it, the more i am now looking to change the views!

I am begining to love america and like bush - he had the guts to take on these islamic terror, pity he cannot continue for the next 4 years
obama is going to mess it up

Far from taking on islamic terror the idiot is the cause of it in Iraq.When Saddam was in power there was no private Sadr army trying to force sharia law on the population, there were no mad mullahs calling for the destruction of the west,Christians were treated as equals, churches were not being burnt,even the prime minister was a Christian.Whatever problems Iraq had was contained within Iraq under Saddam.
The idiot Bush invaded a sovereign country and unleashed a can of worms.
By getting rid of Saddam.

True, a lot of these Mullah's out in Iraq, Afghanistan and even a couple up in Wembley are so backward it's actually quite unbelievable.

The difference is America doesn't give these Mullah's a platform from which to spout their crap. Where as in the UK these people it seems are actively encouraged to spout anti semitic, anti christian, anti British nonsense under the veil of free speech. IF I stood up and started spouting the same anti Islamic nonsense I would be locked up in a New York Minute under the incitement to racial hatred laws we have in this country. One rule for the "oppressed" and one rule for everyone else.

The muslims I know are actually exceptionally switched on and whilst religious don't go in for any of this claptrap spouted by the above.

Putting my neck right on the chopping board, Hussein probably realised that in order to keep these factions under control, draconian rules enforcable by death needed to be in place. An interesting point. Who was the villain amongst that lot? Apart from his own country, Iran is just across the river and Pakistan is a mixed bunch, kept under control by the military.

I'll put my head on the block, too, by saying that I sided with the Bush/Blair tandem. I was very wrong. We should have kept out of it. Whether the problem is that we won the war but lost the peace, I don't know, but with everyone pulling out by the summer, I can't see what good has been done.

If this insignificance was in the United States he would have been "Camp X Rayed" a long time ago. Now, I'm liking the look of this chopping board today so will speak freely in the next couple of paragraphs.

I honestly believe that characters like this don't do reasoned argument/discussion. The only thing they understand is brutality. The Guantanamo Bay holding camp I agree with if managed correctly and filled with the likes of this character.

I do have a problem with 16 year old Afghans being held, but international terrorists I have no problem with at all. Before I start sounding like one of Hitler's henchmen (I probably already do) I also have no problem with international terror suspects being flown to remote parts of Eastern Europe and interrogated for information.

As for Saddam, I think the Americans/British arrived a day late and a $ short. They should have finished the job back in Gulf War I.

One of our home grown terrorists (Richard Reid) is currently spending 400 odd years at this lovely establishment. Belmarsh this certainly isn't.
