DEMO Semi-automated S&P daily trading system

OK, I was stopped out for +1. This time, it was a good decision to have my SL moved as S&P dived afterwards. Interesting day.
Account valuation: £10,344.02.

That's more of an average/bad week. System was wrong about direction twice (out of 2 !) so far. Let's see how it fares tomorrow.

New trade entered:

Sell 1 S&P500 @ 1224.4, SL 1239.4
Buy order 1 S&P500 @ 1240.4, SL 1225.4

Next week, I'm moving to 2nd floor open plan office at work, so no more monitoring my trades during office hours. Can be interesting. Also, I'm planning to increase risk to 3% per trade (i.e. trade £2 per pip). It's a demo anyway.

Stopped for +50. S&P went to 1219.6 (4 pips over my stop loss) and then dived back. Is it just bad luck ? 2 pip slippage this time, even worse than regular 1.

I moved stop loss too early and reduced my profit, AGAIN...

Account valuation: £10,393.43.

New trade entered:
14/12/2011 21:00
Buy 1 S&P500 @ 1210.9, SL 1195.9
Sell order 1 S&P500 @ 1194.9, SL 1209.9

Trade now +40 in the black.

Looking at the past 2.5 weeks, I believe I won't have time to update this journal more often that 9pm every weekday with the result of previous trade and new trade setup. It's becaus of my job and family (kids !). That was the initial rule anyway.

It seems that when I monitor my trades throughout the day, I get nervous and move my SL and REDUCE potential profits. Keeping original SL is counter-intuitive, but gives much better results. I want to give this system a fighting chance without me constantly meddling with it.

Trade closed by me for +46. Opposite trade cancelled.

Account valuation: £10,438.68.

Sell 1 S&P500 @ 1216.0, SL 1231.0
Buy order 1 S&P500 @ 1232.0, SL 1217.0

trade @ -100 at the moment. I have this issue again that it's outside trading hours and I don't want my stop loss hit before 2.30 pm. Oh well, we'll see.

Trade closed by me for -14. Opposite trade cancelled.

Account valuation: £10,424.10.

New trade entered:

Buy 1 S&P500 @ 1217.1, SL 1202.1
Sell order 1 S&P500 @ 1201.1, SL 1216.1

Somehow, I was not stopped around 3.20 pm when the price went up very close to my SL (within 1-2 pips ? I wasn't watching at the time).

Week 3 summary.
One of those worse weeks - 40% hit rate (2 out of 5).

Monday 12/12
P/L according to theory (approx) : -150 + 42 = -108 pips
P/L actual: -151 + 49 = -102 pips
Reason for difference: SL moved to +50 on the second trade and stopped out before 9pm.

Tuesday 13/12
P/L according to theory (approx) : -122 pips
P/L actual: 1 pip
Reason for difference: SL moved to +2. This is the only time it was a good decision.

Wednesday 14/12
P/L according to theory (approx) : +132 pips
P/L actual: +50 pips
Reason for difference: SL moved to +50 and stopped out.

Thursday 15/12
P/L according to theory (approx) : +40 pips
P/L actual: +46 pips
Reason for difference: closed just a little bit before 9 pm - pretty random small difference.

Friday 16/12
P/L according to theory (approx) : -150 pips
P/L actual: -14 pips
Reason for difference: According to theory, my SL on the first trade should have been triggered. For some reason it did not trigger and S&P reversed resulting in a small loss.

Theoretical weekly profit: -208 pips.
Actual weekly profit: -19 pips
(-24 after rolling debits). Woohoo !

Current balance: £10424.10 and one open trade @ -16. Forgot to enter @ £2, so still £1 per pip.

Right, moving SL to back-end might be a good idea. Moving to, say, +50 still did not seem to work well.

Bring it on !
