There you go, something to save up for.

I had a go at getting addicted to watches until I realised they were jewlery; I was really looking for a mechanical watch, where almost all the money went on the movement, but I could never find that. Seems no matter what you spend on a watch the most that goes on the movement is a few hundred quid. Ain't seen any watch where most of the money goes on a complex mechanical thing, which is what *I* want from a watch.

It's an issue I raised on PH. Most of the movements you find are standard ETA ones, and likely knocked up by 5 year old boys in a backstreet factory in downtown Shanghai. (Ok, not actually true, but you get the idea.) So, you could probably build most watches out there yourself for a fraction of the RRP. However, there are a few companies who do make their own movements. (See the relevant thread on PH. I think it's the £50 one.)
