I was laid off from my programming job because I'm too old and can't code as fast as 15 years ago. My health is not as good so I can't do physical labor. Trading is my only source of income. I have about $10K in my trading account, which earns me on average $1500 /month and I withdraw ~$1000 for living expenses. The remaining $500 goes for growing my account.

Why don't you do what your neighbour did - sounds like a good way to supplement your income?
