You might be wondering what Event Risk is so let me tell you what it means. Event risk refers to the risk of the market moving due to an upcoming news release that may affect the global economy such as the crisis in Egypt right now. Many traders prefer not to take positions ahead of important news releases due to the risk of not knowing the outcome. Now that Mubarak has finally stepped down, we are hoping for a good outcome and stability in Forex.

Hi Shauna,
Event risk is the risk when any global news that effect the currency market. There is schedule and unscheduled news that effect the financial market, example as below
1. Schedule new - US Non-Farm Payroll, UK Jobless Claim, Canada Retails Sale
2. Non Scheduled news - Political unrest in Egypt and Libya, Earthquake in NZ.
What is my practiced is to close all the position when before the news coming out. Certain trader like to trade the news, I mean fundamental trader

Glad we can discount Libya (that's the other coloured place next to Tunisia) as I thought that was going to be an issue too. Whew!!!!
Agree. He/she is only trying to get their post count up with a view to spamming crap later on.
There's been a lot of this type of behaviour on thie board recently, shame they make it so easy to spot.
