There are a lot more people playing the victim card than are actually victims of anything other than their own conscious abdication of personal empowerment. You don't get ground down unless you're a fairly willing participant in the process, preferring to play the understandably far easier 'poor me' position than by making the effort to do something useful and positive with your life.

Justice, law and order however, should be colour blind and treat all citizens equally.

I'm not convinced it doesn't on the whole. The times when it doesn't makes the headlines.

We are talking about the number of assaults on black people! Are you suggesting the higher black crime figures explain the actions of the police or contributes towards them?

I'm not suggesting anything, just laying out the data. More blacks (than whites or hispanics) get into stuff that's against the law so more black people end up getting imprisoned and shot.

Yeah, we had a sort of version of that in Ireland back in the day, but is was never actually enshrined in law if ya know what I mean.

It is not just about me as 80,000 other people live in Newport Beach. Since it is in the USA, it is quite appropriate. You keep posting videos about how bad it is here. I wanted to know if you could find any videos about shootings or brutality in coastal OC, maybe Malibu or the hamptons. I could name quite a few cities. Your videos are quite slanted.

Did you even visit the webpage? They invited 42 people and 14 showed up. 14 people is such a big socialist movement.

I am surprised they could find that many. By the way, that meeting took place in Los Angeles County. Los Angeles may be next door to Orange County; however, I treat it like a leper colony and rarely go beyond the "Orange Curtain". That is the case for most of us here. :cheesy:

It does make sense as the crime in LA makes it look like you are in Sudan when compared to the OC.

It was not terrible but Australia beats it for a place to live.

Spent a few years working over there in that area and seemed like a good investment and somewhere to live at the time.

Buy time the A dollar was around 90 to 95 cents (2007)

Property growth is around 40% in that area in 8 years.

Real estate and and any tax fees just something I will have to face.

We want to buy a holiday home in Bali, opens up the funds to do that.

More bang for your buck there and closer to home now.

No good at picking tops and bottoms in markets.

There is wide coverage of things in the USA here in the UK and probably elsewhere. For instance this afternoon I watched a bin auction that featured Ton Jones and Allen ? ( forget his name ). They go to the auction and get threatened by a gang of thugs when they bid. It looks like trouble for the duo but they just emerge from the pushing and verbals with 2 bins.
Perhaps the media over emphasize the boiling under currents of violence in the USA. There was a series recently about the Hell's Angels and other gangsters. Do I want a holiday there ? No thanks.

Gun controls are weak and pathetic. Any lunatic or extremist has easy and legal access to firearms. So you get the continuous stream of massacre stories. Is that the land of the free ? Not for me.

As Obama implies - it is about time they have a good look at the ugly image of violence the country now projects abroad. That will scare off most tourists.

I had this discussion with Atilla earlier. Please send me some of those stories where it happened in a wealthy area. Better yet, send one that happened in an area that isn't poor or has huge income disparities.
