Hi (first post and all that...),

I have been trading CFD's for a while and slowly getting to grips with things off the back of my masters whilst balancing a job I am starting to loath. I'm going to start applying for trainee/graduate trader positions soon and was wondering about what qualifications are looked for.

Is the Chartered Institute for Securities & Investment the main professional body? I assume having one or two exams done off your own back would favourable as it shows you are highly determined to get into the industry.

I doubt anyone would be impressed with that sort of qualification.

Trading is about making money, managing risk and that's not what will be taught by those people.

Don't you need to have some qualifications before you can advise/trade other peoples money?

I hope I might get some exemptions as I am fairly qualified in my current industry ... prob not though (n)

The FSA exam but the company you work for will put youy through it. Being a trader is one thing, talking to clients is another.
