Earlier today Safi Dawood, 22, sat with his head between his legs when he appeared at Westminster Magistrates Court charged with his murder.

Dawood has also been charged over the severe injuries suffered by a 45-year-old Shahzad Farrukh, his landlord and a business consultant who lives on the road where the attack is believed to have started.

He is said to have life-changing injuries, and is expected to remain in hospital for some time, the court heard.

Dawood is also charged with attempted murder of a 14-year-old boy, who cannot be named and has since been discharged from hospital, and possession of an offensive weapon.

He was not asked to enter pleas when he appeared in court and was remanded in custody by district judge Michael Snow.

According to residents, a fight had broken out involving the Afghan, who was living as a lodger in the home of the 45-year-old.

Wayne Broadhurst, 49, died during the attack which left two other people injured on Midhurst Gardens, in west London , at around 5pm on Monday.
