Hello everyone,

I will be posting my journal on Trade2win for a system that I have been trading for almost 2 years now called the Alba system. I've posted this on other sites as well and I wanted to branch out into the Trade2win forums. The purpose of this journal is to encourage traders by reminding them that it doesn't take a market genius to make money in the forex. By following my posts you will see how a simple trading such as this one can still be profitable simply by staying disciplined and practicing good money management. With that said, here is my post for today:


It was another humbling day today in the market. This marks the only the 3rd time since the Alba system has lost 2 trades in a row. At 10:10 there was a good looking Alba signal and I entered 3 lots long at 1926 with a stop at 1899 and a target at 1940. Unfortunately the market did not move at all after I entered and I eventually closed my trade out right before Bernanke's testimony at noon at 1912. Hopefully the next 2 days will help us recover. Forex Trade- 3/9/06- No Trades

Hello everyone. Trade deficits were wider than expected causing the Euro to rise but apparently it wasn't enough to make a major impact as the market corrected itself within an hour. There was an Alba breakout at 9:10 but because Fed governer Kohn was speaking at 9:30, we did not enter. After the testimony, the market pretty much stayed flat resulting in no trades for the day. Hi Kennard,

I'm sorry I should've mentioned this on the first post. I will not be giving out specifics on the board to the system. However the system is very simple and I'm sure you will be able to catch onto it just by following the posts. The main purpose of the thread is just to demonstrate to traders that it doesn't take a $4000 system to make money in the forex. All you need is discipline and good money management and you can be successful. I will say that I am using a 5 and 8 WMA.

Forex Trade- 3/10/06- 1 Trade Won

What a crazy day in the market today! After some heavy volatility due to the NFP release my charts and trade station went a little crazy and actually prevented me from getting in the correct trade. Luckily another opportunity occurred and I was able to snag some pips. At 9:10 am there was an Alba breakout and I entered short at 1885 with a stop at 1908 and a target at 1776. My target was hit on the next candle and I closed 2 lots and moved my last lot's stop to breakeven. I trailed my stop and was eventually taken out at the high of the candle that is marked on the chart which was 1874. Although we had a win, it wasn't enough to compensate for our losses earlier in the week which makes it another losing week for us. This is the 4th week since inception that we've had a losing week. Hopefully we'll have a better week next week. Cheers. ~Big Pippin

Forex Trade- 3/13/06- 1 Trade Lost

Hello everyone! Today was not a good day for Alba but at the same time it wasn't the worst. I was able to cut my losses and if I would've held onto my trade, it would've eventually won. Of course there was no way to tell that the trade would've ended up going my way, but I was happy to get out at near breakeven. At 11:10 there was a good Alba signal and I entered 3 lots long at 1945 with a stop at 1924 and a target at 1956. My target wasn't hit by 12 so I held onto it and decided to close it out at 2 pm at 1943 since it was near breakeven. Had I held the trade 20 minutes longer, my target would've gotten hit, but like I said before, there was no way for me to know that. Mondays can be tricky so I'm content with only losing a few pips today. Let's hope for better days this week Cheers! ~Big Pippin

Forex Trade- 3/14/06- 1 Trade Won

Well today was finally a good day for Miss Alba. After disappointing numbers from the Current Account and Retail Sales report, the Euro gained some ground against the dollar. At 10:10 am there was an Alba breakout and I entered 3 lots long at 1996 with a stop at 1957 and a target at 2016. My target was hit on the next candle and I closed 2 lots and moved my last lot's stop to breakeven. I trailed my last lot's stopped and was eventually stopped out at the low of the candle marked on the chart which was at 2010. Hope you all were able to catch that one Cheers! ~Big Pippin

Hello everyone! Today was a very dramatic day in the market as I was taken on one hell of a roller coaster ride There was an Alba breakout at 9:20 and I entered 3 lots long at 2055 with a stop at 2019 and a target at 2077. The price dropped and almost took me out but then rallied back up again only to stay put around the EU high. After 12 I decided I was going to try to get at or as close to breakeven as possible. I ended up getting out at 2054 at 12:20. So once again, we were saved from what could've been a massive loss. Hopefully the rest of the week will be less dramatic. Cheers! ~Big Pippin

Hi Your candles have occasional Black and purple bodies what do they indicate? I am used to the candles being green if the close highe but full if the close is lower than the open or the body is empty if the close is higher, can you divulge.

I should've clarified. The black candles mean that the 5 WMA crosses above the 8 WMA and the purple candles mean that the 5 WMA crosses below the 8 WMA. It's a neat feature on my charting package that makes it easier for me to see crossovers.

Ain't that the truth! That's why I wasn't too mad because I was able to cut some of my losses. Plus I am still staying slightly positive in these crazy days Good luck in your trading mate.

Forex Trade- 3/16/06- 1 Trade Won

Hello everyone! Today was a good day for Alba as we were able to snag some pips. Although we missed getting a lot more because our last lot was stopped out by 1 pip before shooting up some more later in the day. The CPI was at 8:30 and Trichet spoke at 9:00 so I didn't look for any trades until about 9:20. At 9:50 there was an Alba signal and I entered 3 lots long at 2135 with a stop at 2128 and a target at 2147. My target was hit on the next candle and I closed 2 lots and moved my last lot's stop to breakeven. Unfortunately my last lot was stopped out and I was unable to get that next surge up at around noon. Hope you all did better than me Cheers! ~ Big Pippin

Still a very choppy week as far as wins/losses went but on both losses we were able to cut them short which allowed us to keep our gains higher than our losses.

Forex Trade- 3/20/06- No trades

Hello everyone. Today was a very dull day in the market as nothing, and I literally mean NOTHING, happened today. You can see from the chart that the market stayed rangebound and we didn't see any breakouts or signals. Hopefully the rest of the week's economic reports will give the EUR/USD some juice to make some moves. Cheers! ~Big Pippin

Forex Trade- 3/21/06- 1 Trade Won

Well today was another good day for the Alba system. With the juice provided by the PPI at 8:30 we saw some good movement. At 9:40 am there was an Alba signal/breakout and I entered 3 lots long. I was suppose to enter at 2107 but got in a little late and actually got in at 2114. My stop was at 2123 and my target was set at 2097. My target was hit at 10:10 am and I closed 2 lots out and moved my stop to breakeven. I trailed my last lot's stop and was eventually stopped out at the high of the candle marked on the chart which was at 2097 (how ironic, haha). Overall, it was a pretty good day for Alba and hopefully the rest of the week will follow suit. Cheers! ~Big Pippin
