Before this new re-vamped website there was a box on the home page that showed all the latest posts. This was an excellent way to find NEW and interesting sounding threads. Perhaps it could be re-instated ?????

Yes that was a good feature.

I expect you've noticed that at the top right corner there is a button for "View New Posts" which takes you to a page of active threads , with the ones with new posts highlighted in bold and ordered at the start of the list.

What I didn't realise until recently is that each highlighted thread listed has 2 blue squares on the line, the right hand one takes you to the last post on the thread, and the left hand blue box takes you to the first unread post, which is cool.

Ah yes - thanks - never saw it tucked away up in the rafters

What do members think of the featured discussions on the homepage - these are hand picked by the moderators. The only problem we currently have is that a thread will show in the list by order of when the thread was created - which can make highlighting old threads, impossible. We could revert to showing a list of the newest threads, if members thinks that's preferable.

Perhaps members should be able to choose which ones come on the front page:

- latest new threads
- most active threads (most new posts in last 7 days)
- most viewed threads (in last 7 days)
- only threads from a certain forum
...

Interesting idea that. Does anyone actually like having hand picked threads on the front page?

Also interesting that not everyone realises a) new posts button at the top right header bar, and b) on searches/latest posts etc, you can view last unread post, or newest post as well as the beginning of the posts. Perhaps we need to signpost better. A beginners guide to getting the most from the site, also sounds like a valuable addition where we can really highlight these time saving features.

Well... I hardly take notice of them, because they are hand-picked and probably a more personal selection (no offense meant). I have a number of subscribed threads where I'm usually a 'resident' and I tend to stick around to those forums. Would be interesting to hear what others have to say on the matter.

Agreed. If took me some time to figure out all the functions and options. Given the time I've spent on this time, I probably know a lot of the in's and out's, but most members aren't that particulary active. Perhaps new members should get a short introductory manual in PDF delivered into their mailbox.
