As someone who was so close to signing the dotted line with the royal marines, and as someone who is still considering doing so, and also as someone who has many friends that have served tours of duty in iraq and afganistant - that makes me sick.

I read somewhere that an RAF typist got 400k for a thumb injury in an office, when this paratrooper lost both his legs, got brain damaged, fractures to his skull, face, nose, jaw, pelvis and vertebrae as well as serious spleen and chest damage and is going to need specialist 24hr care for the rest of his life got pretty much fu*k all. Doctors say that because of advances in the capabilties of field medics, he's the most wounded person to survive combat.

Makes you question yourself when you're thinking about serving for your country. When thinking about joining the military you have to accept that this could happen to you, but what you don't expect is to be disregarded like a complete inconvience if it does happen to you, especially when a desk jocky who didn't even fight gets 400k for a bust thumb!

then when you look on the sky news website at the top stories you have crap like a coffee craze in austraillia, some crap singer who is smashed off her, tits and something about hedgehogs. Every now and then one of our troops gets killed one will make it onto their site. Usually in the bottom right hand corner under the 'Also in Sky News - Soldier killed' and thats it. :devilish: :devilish:

I'll agree with you on this one, Kevin. The war is costing billions a month. Any reasonable sum of money paid to out war heroes is just a drop in the bucket, not noticeable. I could say that I can't believe that we don't look after our war heroes better than that but, unfortunately, this is very common both here and in the US, too.
