added: why skip the states? You don't like us 'mericans??
Willing compromise on the states and Australia largely because of the culture overlap. NZ stays because of the scenery.
When I say compromise, I don't mean "wouldn't touch it with yours", I mean visiting as means to an end.
(also have family in Orange County / Austin / Toronto)
rugby world cup here in NZ next year.....things will be a bit more exy, but surely some good times to be had with all the festivities!
anybody here done anything like this?
But it's kinda different now, and here's the thing for you, you can trade and travel, swing/position trade a few pairs, or the indices/oil...

Sort of
I worked/played my way around the world a long time ago and had fun.
Broadens the mind
I don't have a 'take a gap year, go to australia and work in a bar' sorta thing in mind, I would want to do it properly... something I could write a book about perhaps.
May I ask how long it took?

6 years
good idea about the book.
I went to Uni in NZ and then on from there
Write a book about your travels? I can't think why people would want to read it unless you get kidnapped and tortured.
Looks like I'm not the only green one here.
I don't follow.
A better idea is get a dartboard with a map and throw a dart and wherever the dart lands that's where you go. You could adapt it for a rodent and where it defecates and so on, but using some form of random selection to decide where you go would be interesting.
read The Dice Man, it's a great book.
The problem with that is 1) it takes time to sort out visa's etc, I don't think you can just turn up at each and every border and expect things to go smoothly, and 2) I might end up going to sh!t places.
