I am undergraduate Banking & Finance student in the 2nd yeat at the University of Zurich. I have now a summer internship offer from a large austrian bank to work for 2 months in the "Securities Settlement" division. I know what the division stands for, but I can't imagine what an individual person is doing there...
So, is somebody working in this division or can somebody tell me what an individual person is doing there? What can I expect?

usually there are lots of depts and lots of people..all doing "after" trade admin..dividends, rights issues, making sure "shares" are "delivered" and payments made or received, bank reconciliations, etc etc...it is the Back office

Thanks for the reply. But how are they doing that? Sitting alone in front of the PC and checking all the things, phoning all day long (I hate phoning jobs), during meetings in teams, etc?
