Newbie FTSE question

Hi,
My first post, so be gentle!
I played the Fx game using Metatrader for a while, but would now like to mess with the FTSE 100. Can I do it with Metatrader? If so, with whom?
If not, whats the most popular charting package/broker?

I have used many spreadbetting companies, but I find IG Index to be the best in terms of charts and speed of response.

They (like others) do not give views on the markets, although you can subscribe to their futurestechs service, in which they send you an email every day with a chart of a market with their view on that. The trouble is, is can be FTSE one day, Gold the next, and Bund the next; so you don't have anything regular to look at - in any one regular market that is. I personally get a daily email from tradingforwealth.co.uk, where the guy trades the FTSE himself, and he provides that as a free service (I'm thinking of going on his course in Jan, which isn't free). He sometimes gets his trades wrong, but he's honest enough to tell you, but most of the time he's right - which is what counts. You'll never get 100% success in this game.
