Manchester Traders Meetup

Hi everyone.

I've looked back through some of the meetup-related posts to see if something similar exists, but didn't see anything – but apologies if I this already exists...

There are lots of trader meetups in the London area but nothing further north it seems. I'd like to know who would be interested in a city centre weekday meetup in Manchester for getting together, talking trading, and with it being a week day perhaps even doing some live trading (just an idea). I was thinking something like 19:00 - 21:00.

By profession I'm a programmer, and there are actually lots of meetups for programmers in the Manchester area. I find they work well in bringing people together to chat and mostly socialise.

There's various formats we could try, from entirely social to starting out with an hour in some space where people could give talks, or do some live trading / analysis together.

If anyone has any further ideas, please join in. I'd love to get a monthly meet going to meet similar-minded people and share experiences and knowledge.

Also, please vote on the attached poll so we can see how many people are actually up for this. Please only vote if you're fairly certain you'd attend a monthly meeting in the city centre, as we can then make some more solid plans based on the numbers.

Excellent. We're thinking of doing an initial meetup (just casual drinks and chat) somewhere in central Manchester in early/mid December. I'll post again when we have more details – thanks for showing your interest Phil

The number of threads inviting interest in a meet up, and then when there is interest.. nothing just goes on.

i think there's not may traders in manchester, mostly london based i assume...
there's so many events for traders, all london based...
what markets are you interested in? maybe we can start a meeting however small..

Sadly I've been really busy and not had time to arrange this yet, but it's still happening – just later than planned. I keep meeting people up north that either are quite into trading and making money, or mostly doing it as a bit of a hobby, and are interested in sharing experiences.

I'll post back here again when I have some details of the actual first meeting. I've been thinking about a format, and an initial 'who am I and what do I do' type of thing is what I was thinking, with some sessions led by talks (by anyone who has anything interesting to say) to follow.

I think there are enough people to get a small (and hopefully growing) group together, they're just more isolated than in London.
