looking for 6 months course on equity derivatives trading

Hello All,

This is my very first post in this community after reading guidelines and learning that, for questions, it is best to start here.

This is my story, short and sweet. I met someone who turned out to be a very successful day trader. He has been making his living, and fortune, for the past 7 years just by day trading. He told me he had taken a 6 months course that was 8 hours a day from Monday to Friday and had a cost of, roughly, 50,000 euros. This was back in 2003, in Brussels. He got a certificate on Equity Derivatives Trading (he is not sure about the exact name but something like that). The thing is that I have even contacted the University he attended and they are all lost. Apparently it was not a frequent course that was offered and now no one is able to give me information.

I have decided I don´t need to go to the same University as long as I get the same quality course. Before joining this forum I had browsed around for information and found names of schools, one in Germany, someone mentioned London,... and now that I look for that info I can´t find it :|

Does anyone here know where could I get that kind of course? Or what Universities may offer it?

Any help will be greatly appreciated

Do you actually know this guy? Are you sure it wasn't a tall story from some guy in a pub? I have heard of people paying up to 50k for training but to say the least it was a disaster.

Is this guy stitching you up by offering to teach you for only 25k?

Hello all,

I do know this guy. He has turned himself into a multi millionaire since he finished his course 7 years ago. He is a very simple, kind person whose home does reflect the profits he has told me he makes. He only works 2 hours a day.... anyway, I do not need to disclose his life here. It is enough to say that yes, I do know him, yes, he is legit and no, he is not trying to get my money. He actually has been "teaching" me to trade for the past 3 months in exchange for 30% of my profits. The thing is that he is a trader not a teacher. Not only that but he is teaching me only forex and I would like to learn to trade everything he knows to trade. As I want to become a millionaire just like him.

Anyhow I wrote to the institution in charge of education for NYSE and they actually suggested i try Amplify Trading. After more research I found a tread in this same forum with info about them so I think I will go with them. They seem to be the closest thing to what I am looking for and way cheaper!

There are a lot of equity derivatives courses out there that should be easy enough to find using Google. For example, this: Equity Derivatives 1: Trading and Managing Vanilla Options | Outline

There are many others.

Martinghoul, thanks, I have checked the link and indeed I had found tons of this type of courses. I am looking for something more intensive that includes theory and practice. So far the only reference I have received is the one about Amplify Trading. But I´m still open to suggestions =)

Sure - but if you are managing to get returns of 50% a month, what is it you expect from a course?

You are already an elite trader. It doesn't really get any better than that. You should be looking for funding, not a course. Certainly not a $50k course.

Prop shops spend 3 months training their students and most of them still fail. A $50k course will be no guarantee of success.

I have not found anything worthwhile offered by Amplify. I don't see anything equity derivatives related. Instead, it's more of the usual "trader training" malarkey.

DyonisusToast, thanks for the compliment but I´m not trading on my own yet. I trade with my friend, he tells me what he is doing so that I do it too, and then explains all the ecuations. The reason I want to take a course is because I want to trade on more than just the Forex. The deal with him was that he would teach me to trade Forex nothing more, and that he is doing.
