Minus Sum Game Mk II - Derivatives

Ok, I'm in agreement with you, it's a casino. Larry Hite was all set to be a stock analyst until he discovered the origin of "blue chip" (it's the highest value chip in Monaco) at which he point he thought "aha, it's a casino"... he then set about developing a system to beat the odds (which he did, quite handsomely).

That poor boy had to appear before congress. Bless!

Talk about scapegoats eh !

Just goes to show what some tinkering can achieve even for someone who called himself virtually unemployable.

And then he was actually the guy who with his system and his partnership made MAN the giant they are today.

Soon after starting out he was already bigger than Paul Tudor Jones at the time.

Not bad going eh !

A friend of mine who made a ton of cash moved out there about a year ago, his rent is EUR 30k a MONTH. Sure, it's tax free, but you pay that back in other ways.

I am beginning to think you are some sort of Trader groupie BSD.

Couldn't you pick a more attractive group to dote on ?

Playing with fire there DT, after your "previous" with BSD. Or maybe you two secretly love each other, and the fighting is what makes it worthwhile!???!

Do trader groupies exist? E.g. if I go to one of these expensive trader conferences in Costa Rica, where Alexander Elder is speaking, are there tons of random young ladies hanging around? I can't see it myself.

Lol nah but I do believe in benchmarking.

If I'd want to become a great golfer - which I don't btw - I'd go study Tiger and Co, and out of several styles I'd like and feel good about synthesize a new one for me.

When I made a commitment to not just have a go but actually make it as a trader I set about identifying what united those that had provably made it, ie pure book writers etc didn't count, it had to be people with a public record, or people I met on boards and then visited in trading firms, etc.

So I first tried to find out everything about those successful traders that I could, and it pretty quickly became clear that method wasn't even remotely the most important thing as everyone was doing something slightly differently, even if at the end of the day all you can do is buy low and sell high, OR buy high and sell higher, irrespective of whats driving that, ie technical, fundamnetal, moon cycles lol, whatever, that's all there is in directional trading, even if there are lots of nuances.

But what became perfectly clear was that the single most important aspect was keeping your risk under very, very tight control, while going for robust expectancy through following that old cliché of going for larger winners than losers with win rates of around 50 or 60%, and even way lower for classic trend following methods that are nevertheless extremely net profitable.

There were some scalpers who did it the other way round, ie smaller profits than losses, and with far higher hit rates, but that's not really scalable so not that interesting.

And as I had zero interest in re-inventing the wheel I just went and identified the truly success relevant factors from a peer group that had been there, done that, and that was thankfully very accessible.

That's they way I'd always go about starting a business in an established field, identify the benchmark leaders, copy what you can from them, synthesize together elements that fit your needs, and then improve it where possible.

Mean, I dunno about Elders hangouts, but in certain bars where it's known traders frequent em ?

London ?

Certain clubs there ?

I'd wager it's not unheard of.

Right off to the gym now.

i think it's the same 16 year-old mummy's boy with 2 nicknames arguing with himself from his mummy's basement

No, that can't be right. One speaks German and the other doesn't.

BSD, that pic is quite alluring, and you mention Tiger, is this another one of Tiger's conquests?

wouldn't you pretend that only one of your personas could speak a particular language if you were trying to pull off such a stunt ?

No, I'm convinced BSD & Dionysus Toast is the same person, and Pedro is his boyfriend

Ich heisse Dionysus Toast und ich habe eine grosse schwanz

(this will test your theory, see if DT responds to that)

Wait a minute, rathcoole and DT are both in Krung Thep, aka Bangkok, rite?

hey DT is that true ?

in that case, we should meet up for a beer then and introduce ourselves !

I used to go for the occasional beer with Pedro, but he's turned into a right reclusive sob since his latest offspring sprang forth a few months ago.........

See just to clear that up thats where I gotta disagree with that there as it usually results in quite a bit of stress, sleepless nights and just plain ole alienation from ones drinking buddies and mistresses:

Or are the drinking buddies and msitresses one and the same too ?!?

Much better that way I think !!!

Larry Williams looks as though he keeps himself fit and not too decrepit-looking for his age. I'd be surprised if the odd groupie moth hasn't been attracted to his light. (Of course he is a happily married man so I'm sure it came to nothing, but even so).

Power and money are famous aphrodisiacs.
This is what I'm counting on, anyway

(Of course he is a happily married man so I'm sure it came to nothing, but even so).

Err what's that supposed to have to do with anthing ??

Particularly married men must not get rusty and lose their, umm, people skills I believe is one of the main secrets behind long, happy marriages !

:LOL::LOL:
