Literature for mechanical trading

I've just ordered Way of the Turtle by Curtis Faith. After Trendie mentioned it in the mechanical and systems trading forum I checked it out and it seems like it'll be a worthwhile read.

Are there any other books about mechanical trading systems that I might find interesting?

one that wet my appetite was "The ultimate trading guide" by Hill, Pruit, Hill.

It covers the mechanical basis on which most trading systems are built and was one book I saw through to the end (takes some doing for me:cheesy

Just finished Qualtitative Trading Systems by Howards Bandy -loved it but has a particular bias towards Amibroker - and only really worth the read if you use that software, IMHO.

Design, Testing, and Optimization of Trading Systems (R Pardo)


Covel's book on Trend Following is also a good read if this is the type of strategy that interests you....

I've certainly taken the point about being able to find most useful information on this site however I need some new books to read and dislike fiction so I may as well buy some books about trading!

yes - I should have included Weissman's book as suggested by Chorlton.

I'd have to differ re Covell's book which I thought was utter bobbins. Waste a few days of your life only to conclude that going with the trend is a good idea. I don't think I learned a thing.

But for someone who may be new to Trading, sometimes the obvious ideas are ignored as err... being too obvious !!!

aye, that's a good point. But better (s)he takes accepted wisdom for free, than gives Covell another £30 for regurgitating other people's material.

Agreed muchly. It doesn't sound like I'd get alot out of Covell's book (even for a tenner!) although the others sound like they're worth looking at. I'll check them out and probably add them to a pile of books to read.

he could have mine for free, but from memory it was a victim of the "excess curry / lack of bog roll" effect.

If you liked 'Way of the Turtle', then I think you'll also like 'Trade Your Way to Financial Freedom' by Van Tharp. It's a very cheesey title but very similar contect to what Curtis writes.

I think "Evidence Based Technical Analysis" is a decent read, still chewing on it as it is a tad dry, but whatever
