Hiya all,
Hope the markets have been kind to you, I have only recently started trading; initally CFD's for about two weeks then spread betting.
I made a quik £500 with CFD's swiched to spread betting and came a cropper dropping my profit and £1,300.
I am not a novice trader; albeit I haven't traded in over 17 years.
I began my career in 1974 with an American Bank in London, in 1977 I was sent to New York for an interview, with for a posting to Singapore as the Chief Dealer. I had a sublime time trading in New York, so much so that they wanted me to work in Newyork.
The Council was on strike and my wife was epecting and although they were willing to provide accomodation, I knew that it would be curtains for me and my wife! There were snow days galore and the Bank used to put up important staff at a hotel in NYK - hanky panky galore.
I remained in NYK for 5 Months and called it a day telling them that I had to return as my wife was about to produce.
I got the Job in Singapore and it lasted 7 Years.
I retired early...having then worked in Hongkong, back in London and finally in Saudi Arabia.
I am realatively comfortable but the capital is diminishing in this high inflation arena and hence I thought I'd get back into some trading.
MY experience in Fx almost killed me, the markets move so fast and I am now old in the tooth, also I do not have access to the chatter and all ther alert news.
So I tend to trade the indices, some slected share; I am gun shy at the moment.
MY losses i attribute to drinking while trading, which made me gung ho.
So I'd advise, please do not drink and drive ( deal).
I'd appreciate some pointers, besides leaving stop losses - sometimes my limits are not executed and I am live and cancel them and do it directly...any feed back on this please?
Best regards,
Guru60
