Interactive Brokers TWS (Traders Workstation)

I’ve been trading the US markets using Interactive Brokers TWS (Trader Work Station) for years, and like many of you, the systems massive capabilities use quite a bit of computing resources.

I finally figured out that the default Java settings are choked.

The Fix: You need to go into the vmoptions file and increase the memory allocation.

• Find the file (usually in the Jts folder).
• Change -Xmx768m to something like -Xmx4096m (if you have 16GB+ RAM).

This stops the garbage collector from constantly pausing the software.
