#Winning
I was mowing the lawn on Sunday, going up and down. My 5 year old daughter started running up and down beside me and when I neared the end, she would run ahead and shout ‘I won’. After several runs up and down, got me thinking and therefore I asked her this:
What have you won?
She replied, ‘I won’.
I then went in to work mode and said this:
You have expended more energy than me but yet achieved nothing other than self-glory. I, on the other hand have used less energy than you and have achieved cutting the grass for which both I and guests will be happy to see and walk on – It also saves it becoming a meadow.
Needless to say, she looked at me blankly for a moment then run off shouting ‘Mummy I beat Daddy’.
When mummy saw the garden, she praised and humoured my daughter for ‘winning’, however, I had the greatest satisfaction as we all admired the freshly cut grass in the sun. I also had more energy to carry on further.
She is, after all only 5 years old so I don’t expect her to understand what I am getting at. However, there are many 5 year olds out there in the world that will shout they are winning when they are actually not winning anything at all. At the end of the day they only have self-glory.
Happy trading all and good luck.
