The Group is only for those who are willing to help themselves, and others:cool:

We have a new target for The Group, and are currently accepting CV's(y)

We will continue to enlighten others with our words of wisdom and common sense, but, as most are unable to grasp the common sense bit, we have our work cut out for us:rolleyes:

If the time wasters go away, we might get back to talking about trading, now, is that not a novel thing on T2W

I thought you had your own little group for that?

Ah no; the real trading talk is over in ODT's threads. Now there's a man who really knows about trading ...

Meanwhile, this thread should continue to be interesting, as TE proceeds to ask himself, sorry, Geraldo, questions, and then answer them.

Mac, so have you been trading breakouts, channels, continuations, reversals or a bit of everything? What were you using the indicators for and what were you looking for in price action? Also, which markets, securities and time frames?

Just trying to understand your overall strategy.

I don't know if I had an overall strategy. I lost money for years.
First thing I ever tried was buying Darvis Box breakouts on daily stocks.
Another method was mostly buying support & selling resistance.
Then tried CCi signals.
Then breakouts. All kinds of stuff..........never really any hardcore TA trading except for the CCI.

Recently I tried..........I mean really tried..............all the price action only stuff I read from Anekdoten's AHG thread on elite trader while trading the mini NQ. Great thread I think but I couldn't get it to work even after 2 years.

I don't understand a lot of what TE says, but for some reason it finally clicked in my head to stop & think, look at the big picture, look at all the pieces that matter, and then make a logical decision.

I can see how someone can make money with TA............but only if they use it as the very last step in whatever process they have.

All of those things work if you don't get in too late. If you are scared then nothing works. My best strategy has been to get in on the long term charts with a huge stop with very small exposure. The longer term charts seem to be better for me.

Mac, I can relate re. Losing money trading S&R, been there.

The thing is S&R is getting broken all the time, otherwise markets wouldn't move anywhere, and every bar H/L is a potential level. I find it easy to view them as levels where there is likely to be some kind of reaction, rather than a full on reversal of direction.

I think a lot of retail traders put too much emphasis on S&R, the pros use it to their advantage.

I now barely use S&R in my method, and I also think that having a regular, effective method, that you take ownership of and stacks the odds in your favour is critical for consistency. Also, (and I'll repeat it till I'm blue in the face, coz it's that important) money management is possibly even more important than method. Nothing is guaranteed and all we ever do is quantify probabilities.

If you want consistent profitability badly enough you will find a way, paper trade a system if needs be, till you're confident it gives you a decent edge.

Good luck with TE's group...

TE, a little quote re. Gambling...

"Speculation is a venture based on calculation. Gambling is a venture without calculation." ~ S.A. Nelson

From his book The ABC of Stock Speculation, a very worthy read (IMO) on the origins of TA.

Just more of the same old rubbish about TA:rolleyes:

Here are some real quotes that matter(y)

"If, after the first twenty minutes, you don't know who the sucker at the table is, it's you." :cheesy:

"You'll always miss 100% of the shots you don't take."

"Great souls have wills; feeble ones only have wishes."(y)

"Gambling is not as destructive as war or as boring as pornography. It is not as immoral as business or as suicidal as watching television. And the percentages are better than religion."

"Do not let what you cannot do interfere with what you can do."

It is clear that you are birds of a feather:cheesy:

You and your buddies make me want to trade some more, just so that I can laugh when I take the money from YOU:clap::clap::clap:

Why don't you run along now, like the good little BOY you are:LOL:

J19, I have decided to let you in to our US Daytraders Social Group, as you and MK seem to get on, but, if you persist in mentioning TA rubbish I might have to delete all of your posts:cheesy:

You can of course decline, but, if I was YOU I would not(y)

Done J19, and this time there is ONE RULE

Nothing posted in the US Daytraders Social Group goes outside The Group.

We know the mods are peeping, but, they can not repeat what we say in a private group, as that is breaking the law:cheesy:

That's way below your usual level of cryptic. Can almost read it backswards as fast as the usual way. I do not think it is an accurate reflection of a mirror image but there again keyboards will somewhat limit that capability.

What are going to do for your jolly little group... teach them how to get their first Rolex.
