IB Prop trading methods

Know of a hedge fund that was looking for a trader recently.
They were looking to hire direct from IBs and emphasised that the guy was to be familiar with one or more of these forms of trading:

Quantitative long/short,
event driven,
pairs trading
stat and index arb


Pairs trading i've heard of, but what are the others?

Quant Long/Short = data mining
event driven = punting the news
stat & index arb = markets can remain irrational longer than you can remain solvent (think LTCM)
