Hi all,

I'm a relative newcomer to spread betting having just read the pre-requisite books several times to ensure my basic logistics are in place.

I am wanting to watch one or maybe two stocks or indices for a few weeks to get a feel for their ups and downs.

I know this will sound like a stupid question given that if anyone had a definitive answer then we would all be rich, but can anyone suggest something that I can watch and get a feel for that has sufficient movement to allow some potential gain within a likely spread, that has sufficient movement on a "daily" basis without being madly volatile and unpredictable. I have considered the FTSE 100 and have just read someones suggestion from another post that the DO has greater movement.

Again I know my question may sound like I'm asking who knows next weeks lotto numbers but I hope you get my drift. Any constructive help would be useful.

Many thanks

?

Right...
Well, I didn't think it was that much of a stupid question but obviously it didn't warrant any replys.

Never mind.

If you watch the FTSE in the morning i believe you have to keep an eye on the DAX as this can move the FTSE and in the afternoon you have to keep your eye on the DOW if your still trading FTSE as this can have the same effect to lead it.

Hope this helps. Im still a newbie myself and im looking at trading the Mini Dow because you can trade it in the afternoon or from 7pm for the last couple of hours. Have a look at open e cry and get a demo off them for a month to see what you think.

Best of luck

FTSE, DOW and DAX are your best 3 for UK hours to watch that have decent daily movement and half decent spreadbet spreads as far as I know. The DOW would be the more volatile of the 3 I believe but it is the leader of the 3 so I'd watch them all IMO.
