Since upgrading to 2MB DSL I have a strange problem in that I cannot access the TacticalTrader web site at www.tacticaltrader.com. I suspect this is a DNS/routing problem with the ISP. Can someone who has been using this today please post/e-mail/pm me the output of a traceroute to this site?

What to do on a Windows PC:

1. Open a command window prompt.
2. Type:
tracert www.tacticaltrader.com > route.txt
3. Send the file route.txt.

Many thanks!

KenN

Interesting, I've had the same problem since I got broadband and have to use dial-up connection in order to access tactical trader - so I don't use it very often.

Ken,
I tried when I read your first post, but I don't get anything - not the normal tracerts strings.
RobA runs the site and is a tech expert. I could privmail you his email address if you want - he's a very nice and helpful guy.
Richard

Thanks Richard. Can you actually access the TT site? Strange about traceroute not working for you, but if you could PM RobA's e-mail that would be great.

Cheers
KenN

In your email box already.
No prob accessing TT and I use adsl.

Richard

I think when I have used tracert before it has always been using the IP address.

Can't get there from Freeserve (rather, Wanadoo ADSL) - tracert gets as far as IP 81.29.64.2 and times out, tacticaltrader is IP 81.29.64.40 so presumably it's the last link that's failing?
Dave

DaveJB - thanks for that - but do you really have TT as IP 81.29.64.40, PlusNet thinks it's 81.29.65.40?

Richard - could you please try 'nslookup www.tacticaltrader.com' and then a tracert based on the numerical IP it returns?

Thanks guys
KenN

I cant ping the site - its down for everyone

Thanks for that javidk - I get similar traceroute results.

I looks like the problem is at or near the TT end. I have e-mailed their support guys (thanks Richard) so we'll see what happens next.

Many thanks to everyone!

For those with connection problems with ADSL: if you are using PPPoE protocol, try reducing the maximum transfer unit (MTU) by 32 bytes at a time, rebooting (stopping/restarting network connection may also work) at each increment to see if the problem resolves (it shouldn't take more than three or four attempts).

Network & dial-up connections - 'Local area connection' on network adapter (not ADSL dial-up connection) - properties - choose 'PPP over Ethernet Protocol' - properties - (general) - check 'override maximum transfer unit' & change setting.

I have had problems with TT for a while and the past few days I can't access the site at all. I don't think I can be bothered doing all of the above. If I log off and back on to my broadband connection lots of times, I sometimes get in but that isn't much fun. As so many people seem to be having problems, I think something should be done at their end.

I've been able to log on using dial up but not with broadband. I've tried to contact their support and admin by email and pm - all to no avail so far.

I know there is a problem with TT and Wanadoo but it seems to be getting worse lately. I can't access the site at the moment and have had problems all week.
