Actually it's not for traders only, but for anyone who works daily using mouse and keyboard. Some of you might not know about Carpal Tunnel Syndrome, it's some kind of a common source of hand numbness and pain. You can see some of CTS surgery pictures, hope you still good after seeing those :cheesy:

And it's a big risk for anyone who works daily on a computer that use mouse and computer on bad position. Here are some good positions on mouse and keyboard usage for you:

and more on this post, also some hand exercise while on computer

Hope this information help us on healthy workspace! And hope I'm not posting this on wrong section

Got a trackball years ago.

My left elbow has calluses.

Still trying to get my eyes to swivel in opposite directions like a cameleon. What a fantastic edge that would be.

I've become ambidextrous with my mouse, I switch it from right to left as and when the RSI kicks in (that's repetitive strain injury, not relative strength index..)

I've checked over what I do and I guess I'm alright. You have to be getting up to semi-professional work to get into those bad habits. I sit at right angles to the keyboard and type with the two index fingers. With the mouse I keep my wrist straight with the arm and rest it on the desk. It's a natural process, for me. Mind you, at my age, I've got a few aches and pains due to sitting badly. A typist needs to look into that, too.

I find resting my head in my left hand for 15 hours a day isn't good for me.

lol SN.

I have also become moderately ambidextrous. I have three pcs and a concomitantly unwieldy number of meeses (prefer the cartoon word to 'mice'), keyboards and dealing keypads. So on a good day I can trade with right hand while typing fills back to sales guys or whoever with left hand. On a bad day however this can lead to 'unpredictable' results ;)

back pain

Dont forget your back people. Im 6' 5" tall, so my trading in desk is raised and my chair high, thighs running paralell with the floor, and back up straight, forearm arm and wrist flat on the desk

:smart:

Let me add that Carpal Tunnel Syndrome is not 100% curable. So if you happen to get it, the damage is done and surgery is generally the only way to alleviate the compressed nerve(s).

Nerve tissue once damaged, is damaged for good. It is one of the only tissues in your body that cannot rejuvenate itself.

don't forget the related complaint...

don't forget the related complaint suffered by porn viewers (Jacqui Smith's husband?) of w@nker's cramp.

Can be alleviated by changing hands at 99 (so I am told).
