Anyone know anything them? Good, bad, indifferent?

Just another arcade recruiting grads. A colleague has heard of them.

Believe they lost a few traders to Saxon a while back. Is a scalping house. Haven't heard anything bad about them.

If it's prop firms in Dublin you are looking for then there are 3 to my knowledge. Saxon, Geneva and Customhouse. There is a crowd called Reminisence but believe they scalp US shares, not 100% certain but not a futures house.

Sorry if this post is off-topic, but I'm currently going through the Trainee Trader recruitment process with Geneva Trading (Dublin). From what I understand the application process is as follows:

1. Submit CV
2. Telephone interview (standard interview format)
3. Interview (with MD, Head of Trading and 2 other Traders) and written exam/assessment [both over a period of 3 hours].
4. Group Assessment Centre and Final interview with MD.
5. Offer, with a Feb/March start.

I've passed Stage 2 and now I'm scheduled to attend Stage 3 Friday week (19/12/08). Has anyone reading been through this process before with GT? What could I expect in the paper exam (e.g. how many questions over how much time, marking schemes, types of questions - sequence, arithmetic, complex etc...) and also in the interview (what kind of questions should I prepare for? Technical, Motivational or general interview questions?).

Thanks in advance,

RT

Well, I don't know if I can help any newbie traders. I did the assessment last December and totally messed it up by studying the wrong types of topics. Went to London over Christmas wrote an Optiver-like test & Tibra test. Missed out on these by 4 marks and 2 marks respectively. So now I'm going to get a back-office/regular job to fill the gap until the Autumn and then re-apply and nail those tests.

If you guys want a prop firm that is still recruiting check out All Options and try their (simple) online test. If you pass that they'll ask for your CV. You can try as many times as you like. [Note: ':' means division, '*' means multiplication (just like in VBA)].

how it works

how exactly does it work if you work at Geneva?

Generally, a trader that joins Geneva will be trading futures (European and US equities and commodities). The training programme will teach grads how to scalp the markets and spread mearkets against each other. Trading, as a career is a constant mental battle. To succeed in this business you need energy, a strong work ethic, very strong discipline and a general enthusiasm for finance. Good mathematical skills are a help. Programming skills are a big help. Being good at poker + computer games is also a good sign that you can be a successful trader. Tick all these boxes and you've a good chance. To answer other comments in this thread, at the moment in Dublin, there's Geneva, Susquehanna and Positive Equity (formerly Saxon Financials) operating in the prop trading industry. Custom House are no longer a going concern. Some senior traders from there were headhunted by the other profitable houses like Positive. All have tough interview processes and all offer lightly different angles on the exciting world of trading. Hope this helps.

ok thanks. do you know what size positions you will be allowed or expected to take? what is an expected year revenue target? whats an acceptable dollar loss to make on a day or a month? whats the turnover of people there? cHEERS

Hello...any of you have any further comments about the interview process at Geneva-Trading? Any comments about working there?

Thanks,
