Economic news flow - w/c 30 November

I put a red marker on my forex watch list when there's a news event on the calendar likely to have a major impact on the given currency - the sort of thing that might make me close a position before the announcement.

I hope everybody has seen next week's economic calendar. Mine's red all over the shop.

The week's almost over and I looked to see which of the major pairs ended the week with its underlying trend - i.e. how many went higher if they started the week above the 200EMA, how many went lower if they started the week below the 200EMA - 1 out of 15
What about the 50EMA? - 3 out of 15.

This doesn't mean trend-following doesn't work - but it certainly didn't this week. The clue was in the news flow last weekend. Glad I was flat. Time for a glass of wine.
