Anyone that had a good/bad experience on taking a Trading course please let me know!

Thanks

Hi riros,
Welcome to T2W.
What sort of trading course are you looking for? If you're able to narrow your spec' down a bit, it'll be a lot easier to point you in the right direction.
Tim.

Hi Tim and thanks for replying!!

Basically i went to a seminar by the Trading University about spread betting! It seemed interesting and they offer a 2 day course (on trading techniques - start trading quickly). Therefore I am just wondering if investing in these kind of courses is sound.

It's a bit like driving a car - you can go on a course and it will teach you the basics - but without practise you will never be a good driver. Same with trading.

I agree that the more you practice the more you learn and profit (hopefully). But do you think these kind of courses can save you time? rather than doing it alone

Hi riros,
Use the 'Search' facility to look up Traders university - it'll throw up 4 or 5 threads which, between them, ought to give you a reasonable insight into the merits or otherwise of their course(s). I've not done it myself, so I'm not qualified to comment on its contents and say how good or bad it is. However, my general impression is that it's quite expensive for what it is, meaning that much of the information is available for free in forums like T2W. One thing is absolutely certain; don't fall for the newbie trap of thinking 'I've done the course, ergo, I will be a successful trader'. Sadly, it ain't as simple as that! But, that applies to any course, not just the one(s) offered by Traders University.
Tim.

Educational things like courses, books, etc. definitely save time. Obviously, there's loads of educational material here and elsewhere on the web, but how much time does it take for you to pull it all together? It's a trade-off. A book or course will present the material in a more concise fashion. You just need to figure out where the value is for you.

My general suggestion is that new traders start with low cost resources like introductory books, then use them to figure out where to go next in terms of more specialized material. Otherwise you just tend to be hit and miss, wasting times going down useless paths.

:)
And how has it been in general for you?

I am not a great advocate of paying for courses or trading in a group.
I believe when you trade in a group you develop a herd instinct which mostly goes against your own analysis.
Learn the free stuff here and on baby pips, practice it for a month , use small stakes to develop your money management skills and you will not need to go on any courses or have anyone to trade with.I have done this for 10 years I have joined chat rooms test them and found them a complete waste of time. However this is my experience yours might be different.Good Luck

Courses that cost thousands are a crazy waste of money and designed to line the pockets of teachers who can't make money trading. The problem with trading is not knowledge anyway - it's psychology. You can give ten people the perfect trading set of rules and only one will make any money because the others will allow their subconscious to control the action and they won't stick to the rules. It's like quitting smoking - all the good intentions in the world come to nothing.

When you start using your own money, it's a different ball game and fear will take over. Most of us have subconscious beliefs that we don't deserve great success and this will scupper our chances unless we learn a way to prevent this. So, you can read all you like and go to every course you can find but it won't make you a successful trader.

You need to practice and discover what your weaknesses are - closing too early when you have a small profit, closing too early when you have a loss (as most trades do at some time), refusing trades because you 'believe' this is one of the times when your system won't work, etc. etc.

Only when you know what you do wrong and have a good system do you stand any chance of becoming a successful trader. After 10 years, I still make less than half what I should do even knowing all this...

Thanks for clearing my thoughts!!

I guess it is all about getting into a routine or mind frame/strategy that suits you the best and learning from mistakes!

Good luck

Any professional training course by a reputable company can be great, it requires commitment by the candidate. I am aware (off the grape vine!) Futex is launching an on line trading academy soon also includes traing on a 'live' trading floor.

Lots of companies offer you free demo accounts.
I also see that interactive investor give you a 100 pound bonus and let you practice for a while with micro lots.

i would pay money only if i could see (live or video) the trades of a successful trader

all the rest can be found online for free
