Before you can reign as king, you have to do some time as a prince. Freedom is the ultimate goal, however, there is the learning curve to consider.

Goober.

Was never that. It was/is "If your face fits" ..fitting in, a winner, word is your bond, cool, calm, always reliable, keeping you gob shut, etc .. all simple stuff which most can't manage. You don't need public schooling but ok sure if you've got it, it does not get in the way. No public schooling.. then you just need to be perceptive on the 'fitting in' requirement and be who you need to be/want to be.. its not rocket science.

Rejection is part of everything; get over; get past it; you'll get less of it as you go along but it can always come along and smack you in the mug. But, but, but it would a very poor existence without challenges, thats for sure.

Bottom line: your perceived performance and success. Go to it!

Anyone any views of onscreentrading.com ? Good company image for a graduate to work at? If so any comments what they offer in terms of salary and other perks?

Thanks.

Sh*t, my apologies, brown nosing & ar*e licking then.

Poor soul, must have got badly bruised. Sounds as if you really got f****d up!

Well, shape the world around you .. or go on then head butt everything in sight.

Fitting in, no great shakes .. but the thing is, if you can't, you can't.

Nothing so interesting I'm afraid, just my ignorant ol' perception as I sit here insulated from reality.

Anyway, thanks for the concern, chum.

again.. who?? where do you find these firms from? Try David Kyte's operation in Islington or Micky Jacob's in West Hampstead. Both filled with ex LIFFE locals- i.e people who know what they're doing...

yep - but most Uk cos like david kyte are very bond orientated - but after the last few years - who would not have been bond orientated - just picking bucks off the trees - they must have reeled it in

voltrex if i recall correctly, is/was a small institutional directed derivative broking service set up for options a few years ago - they might have moved into derivative strategies now - seem to recall they were near trafalgar sq

Thanks. I'll see if I can do a little bit of background hunting!!

If anyone else knows anything about Voltrex, would appreciate the info!!

Voltrex

Voltrex is a top -notch outfit, run by top-notch people, and has become an extremely succesful business within a short period of time.

Their area of specialty is broking exchange traded options and futures. Run by former LIFFE gurus Simon Heron and Nick England (formerly James Capel /HSBC I think).

They are based in St.Helen's Place in the City, and recently opened an office in Paris.

I suspect that you may not have heard of them as their client base is primarily institutional (they consistently rank in the top 3 brokerages in terms of trading volume on FTSE).

If you want contact details for them, send me a pm.

Hope this helps

Hey
Do you think some forex firm would employ a 55 year old as a trader?

Thought not ...

But I make a mean cup of coffee. :D

hey guys

the great thing about trading is that it dont matter how old you are (90 might be pushing it i guess and incontinence could be an issue in a small office) - if you are a successful trader you can always get a job with a real trading company as opposed to investment bank - they make their money off you - they dont give a **** how old you are - just how much cash you will make them - they have their fill of young eager beavers losing them money - tis the oldies who support the offices

Count me in Stevet...can Options come too. He can carry six cups of coffee at a time.

Seriously though...if one could show a trading statement to the likes of fxcm they might be tempted to try one out...if only out of curiousity :D

neil

if you can show a positive p&l for a reasonable time and the ability to handle reasonable size - if you walk into any trading company - you could be trading within 5 mins

neil;

but the p&l has to be for the particular type of market that company specialises in - and not just a profitable p&l - one which shows that you trade with risk as the first consideration - its not the amount of profit - its the consistency and low draw down that is of interest to most
