Colour Blind ?

I was discussing a strategy with one of friends who day-trades - I saw his screen and was confused with all the lines and colours. I know I am color-blind (blues and greens and reds/oranges)

Just interested to find out if there are any other colour-blind traders out there and how they get around it ?

:cheesy: Red Green for me. My charts look OK, but then they would, wouldn't they. I can't see Blue or red on a black background for one..... I have a light grey background,mostly blue for lines and things and black and white candles.Works for me...

Would seem a good strategy to reduce the number of lines on your chart.

Actually, that's probably a good strategy colour-blind or not.

As an aside (sorry Pervaz) I'd be really interested to discover how most people who are colour-blind find out.

In fact, I'll post a separate thread and explain why I'm interested.

What difference does the colour make ?
A line is a line, the colour you choose is a personal choice.

It can be problem for colour-blindness, but then colours are only used to contrast one thing against another. ( if you are red-green colour-blind, and you want to contrast the two, you would choose colours that produce that contrast using different colours - whoops - you probabky couldnt see what to contrast ).

Charts, etc are just pictorial representations of numbers.

The real problem is when you are number-blind !!

Typically, this sort of colour blindness is graduated i.e. you see LESS of the red or green, depending on what other colour they're next to. Not many people can only see b/w. For me it just reduces my choices in the variety of colours I can use. E.g. deep red, typically looks dark, almost black. I use different colours for trendlines as opposed to support/resistance levels, and for trigger levels I might want to show on my charts to remind me price is approaching a significant point. In addition, I use paler colours for Fib levels so they do not dominate and obliterate everything. Using esignal I've set up shortcut keys so I can toggle Fibs off and on, and text&lines off and on. I find this really helps to be able to suddenly clear the screen so I can see just price action.
