Christmas Question

Merry Christmas All,

Hope to get your opinion on the following and if the same is happening elsewhere or is only Australia.

My two kids go to kindy two days per week. They enjoy it and it is good for them (I believe). This year the kindy has stopped celebrating Christmas because it might upset the non-Christian children and families.

There is no reference to Christmas, no singing 'jingle bells' let alone 'silent night'. When I found this out I wrote one of my exceedingly polite letters (that people hate to get) pointing out that Australia is a multicultural society where 16 million of us are Christian (according to the census) and the remainder comprise mainly athiests and minor religions. Even the major global religion of Islam only accounts for less than 3% of the Aussie population.

Am I being too conservative or is this political correctness gone absolutely bonkers?

Whatever your personal religious beliefs I would welcome your opinion.

Isn't it strange that everyone else in your country can celebrate whatever they like....................
We get the same crap here. You can't even raise the National Flag without being called racist etc.
Good luck to you.

It's happening all over
-------------------------------

If you wish to subdue a people, you must first strip them of their culture.
(Edward 1 , The Hammer of the Scots)

But a man with no culture of his own has no history.
And a man with no history has nothing to fight for except tomorrow.
But there is no unity of purpose in our dreams of tomorrow.
So we are left like a cell without a nucleus
The rude forefathers of a sterile world.

(Apologies to Gray)

God now I feel really miserable.

Cheer up bonsai,

remember the words from the Judge in Caddyshack

"It's easy to grin, when you ship comes in
And you've got the stockmarket beat,

But a man who's worthwhile, is a man who can smile
When his shorts are too tight in the seat"

(Apologies to any poet)

Aussie, I'd give 'em both barrels. Same thing happens here....the local church was refused permission to put up a notice advertising a " Carol singing" evening. The reason? It might upset ethnic minorities who don't celebrate Xmas. Now I respect those that have different religeous beliefs to myself and if they don't celebrate Xmas, then that is their choice. In return , I expect them to respect my choice.
My advice? Ring around all you Kindy friends and organise your own thing for the Children.!
Happy Xmas.

seriously aussietrader, click the link i posted and write to Gary.

he's already written to a ton of skools and kindys across Oz, telling them to cut out this moranic PC bullsh!t (okay, not exactly in those words) but has told them to put the christmas back into christmas and so on

if yuo write to him and tell him about yuor kindy, i'm sure he'll do the same for yuo

best of luck

Guys, following on from your posts, there was a leftist bullshite directive regarding competive sports in some London schools , I believe it was decided to ban football and rugby possible other games to, as they promoted competion and it was there for unfair, as they were all for promoting co-operation, not competion! I believe we are under attack every day from utter bull-shite,many people just don't see it........gotta go

yep I cant believe that thing about sport. part of sport is learning to lose as well as to win. next we will hear that grades will be abolished because some people do worse than others. normally some jumped up little attention whore trying to claim the moral high ground.

I agree. All it does is delay the inevitable connection with reality. Wait until they are one of 200 applying for the same job and see how little competition there is then. Or when they have to tender for a contract along with 20 other providers. Or they have a "stretching" sales target to meet just to keep the job once they've got it.

Kids need to learn to cope with the world as it is, not the way some do-gooder would like it to be, and this has to start early so that it becomes second nature.

I always remember Fred Perry (last British Wimbledon men's champion) saying that in his view "show me a good loser, and I'll show you someone who can't win!"

Iam with Lennon on this one "Imagine"!!!!!!!!

I work for a major financial institution and this year we were not allowed to display christmas cards on our desks because of a European directive on religous diversification. Apparently the company are liable if a non christian is offended by these overt relious icons. Lunatics running the asylum or what?

SEND FAX TO EUROPEAN DIRECTIVE TARDS IN BELLGIM

ASK IF THEY ARE WORKING ON CHRISTMAS DAY

DO NOT THINK SO

O W N E D!!

ALSO, ASK THEM IF THEY TOOK THE TIME TO ACTUALLY CONSULT NON-CHRISTIANS BEFORE DRAFTING THIS PC BS

I THINK NOT

THEY WERE TOO BUSY FEELING PROUD OF THEMSELVES AND ATTENTION-WHORING AT THE SAME TIME. JUST LIKE THEY DO WHEN THEY DONATE THEIR LOOSE CHANGE TO CHARITY COLLECTORS THAT HANG OUTSIDE SHOPPING MALLS

CAR KEY BOI ALSO DENOTES LOOSE CHANGE TO WALLYS THAT HANG OUTSIDE WALLY-MART. DIFFERENCE IS, I DECLINE THE BADGE THEY HAND OUT COZ WEARING THAT BADGE IS SAYING TO WORLD:

"HEY YUO! LOOK AT ME! I DONATE TO CHARITY! I'M SO WORTHY!"

BANNING Christmas celebrations in schools and businesses for fear of offending non-Christians was a mistake, Sydney Anglican Archbishop Peter Jensen said today.

In his 2003 Christmas message, Dr Jensen praised federal Multicultural Affairs Minister Gary Hardgrave for his defence of Christmas traditions.

Mr Hardgrave said he would hate to see people forced to abandon Christmas traditions which had been with their families for generations.

looks like your mate even has an Archbishop on side.

"I say 'Amen' to his words," Dr Jensen said.

He also urged people to look beyond the tinsel and commercialisation of Christmas and rediscover its true meaning.

I would think non-christians would be more offended by the thought of people presuming they would be offended by stuff like this.

Its all BS.

When u move to a different culture u have to accept the ways and traditions of that culture otherwise why are u going there? And im certain that in 99.999% of the time this is the case.

Im sure its insulting to them that these "authorities" feel the need to come up with daft things like this
