Basic Chart package

I'm looking for a basic chart package + data update in which I can quickly scan through the top 1000 shares in the FTSE Allshare using a scale of about a year. By quick I mean something in which I can move from one chart to the next by a single click without having too much time delay so I can short list shares which may be in a well defined trend or breakout etc. Obviously if it hasn't got too many bells and whistles perhaps it is quite cheap. Any ideas or recomendations?

(I remember writing my own software to do just this about 10 years ago using free market eye data, but I have not got the patience or the windows platform to do it nowadays. It used to take me about an hour every weekend to scan about 2000 shares)

Have yu looked at Sharescope? It's about £80 then £14 per month for updates. It's 75% fundamental 25% TA (ish) but it'll probably do what you're after.

Updating and flicking through graphs is very quick and easy.

Thanks for this. I haven't got much use for Fundamental Analysis but the package looks like it could do the job I'm looking for. I will download a trial.

actually I'd scrub that and at least consider amibroker (www.amibroker.com).
It'll cost you around £80 too, but you can download data free from various sources.

It's an infinitely superior package for TA.

Really, what free sources of reliable data are there nowadays for the LSE?

There are various free sources if you look on the amibroker site - yahoo, Msn etc. Reliability may be an issue with older data from Yahoo I believe.

The fee is a one off, $169 I recall. Excellent support through various yahoo groups too.
