Hi all,

I'm new to this forum. When I was younger I didn't take much interest in school or my degree, and so I didn't perform well.

I've realised in the past few years I really want to be a trader. I have excellent anylitical skills and learn exceptionally fast however m education is keeping me from getting hired. Does anybody know how a person like myself might get into trading, from the very bottom up.

Thanks,

Rob.

I took my laptop to dinner once so I didn't have to be without the markets! Does that count!

same. i take my laptop with me once i go out. and also research in advance the places which have free wireless network, so i can log in and check. :cheesy:

I trade with my own money and have done since I was 18, I've also kept an eye on different investments even when I dont have money to invest, mainly stocks and currencies.

If you learn exceptionally fast...go get some l33t skillz?

I don't know much on the subject, but I doubt you're going to get a job trading at a bank without anyone who can vouch for you. Prop firm perhaps if you can prove yourself. What's wrong trading your own account?

Having spent too many years in school, I am also having trouble finding work. ... In any case, education can be a double-edged sword :(

Best of luck~

you don't need to trade for anyone.......If you are good then you should trade for yourself full stop!!

get something solid for yourself first.. even you might dont have real money. can ask other to invest on you.. proof it to them!

i was in the same shoes as the original poster. Never really "applied" myself in school, desperately wanted to be a trader but for the past 3 years i have been a professional trader (not for myself at home but working for companies). To be honest getting in at a bank is unlikely, they tend to have one view of what makes a good potential emplyee and its usually how many letters you have after your name and look how far that got them... not that im bitter of course ;-)

I started at a prop firm and now run my own desk at a small fund. If you are passionate about trading to the point of obsession, read constantly and are able to control pretty much all human emotion then you are as capable as anyone. It kinda turns you into a robot that only gets excited by things that you can draw trendlines on (maybe thats just me) but if its the life you really want then theres nothing stopping you
